Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Neal McCready who has the Ole Miss beat on 247:

"Just talking to people today, kind of all over, on Kiffin, Sumrall, Clark Lea, others, I kind of think Oklahoma State is hiring North Texas' Eric Morris. Also, I'm closing in on thinking Kane Wommack is Arkansas' guy. Not ready to bet on it, but he's got real momentum there.
As for Lea, I think he's looking for some leverage to get Vanderbilt to commit a little further. I don't think he has real interest in leaving. The more I hear about him, I will say, the more I think he's the real deal."

I called Wommack to Arkansas a few days ago based on looking at their list and going, "Yeah, he probably will take it."

BTW, since this Morris has been announced at Oklahoma State.

So Tate McRae wouldn’t even answer about a date with theo and so theo didn’t get the date but then he still banged her, prolly. Did I get all that?
I don't think so. I'm not sure where you got that narrative. Pavia tried to leverage Theo for a date with Tate but she wouldn't respond to Theo's messages.

Lea won't leave Vanderbilt, but I'm not sure he's the real deal. His OC is most responsible for the recent success and bringing in Pavia. I didn't know his story or aspirations. But if he stays they could have some degree of success similar to what Kentucky did for a while under Stoops.

I'd say he's a coaches coach.

I just don't believe in arbitrarily deciding when to give a coach credit for hiring good assistants. I figure once you have the resources to do that, you can probably replace the ones you've got with more once they leave.

Yep. Brother-in-law is a police officer in Morristown. He thinks he committed suicide somewhere in the mountains. He took some guns with him apparently.
Wasn't there an athlete recently that committed suicide that had similar rumors/accusations levied against him? Or am I going senile?

To an extent I agree. But this assistant came with a ready made QB and system. I'd need to see what he does with another QB and virtually the entire team turning over moving forward. As Lea wasnt very good at all, until last year being ok and this year at a higher level.

Brees, Fitzgerald and Witten are the only no-doubts imo. Wouldn’t be shocked if Eli and Vinatieri joined them, but others on that list deserve it more…also imo.
IMO, Eli should never be elected as a member of the Hall of Fame.

My point is it doesn't matter how it comes if the resources are available to acquire it. Vanderbilt is about to flip a 5-star top 5 QB from Georgia. I feel like most Vol fans are in denial. I'm sure a lot of folks will tell me I'm the one reading this wrong. I don't see how that makes sense. I am not biased. I don't care if Vanderbilt is competitive with Tennessee for the immediate future. I think it makes it more interesting.

Y'all this Lane Kiffin deal is just like women and this Gator fan has LOTS of experience with women. Lands lots of 10s but prefers 8s.

"Damn right. I compare this to some of my experiences with women, and I have plenty of knowledge in that regard. Sometimes a solid 8 that’s crazy about you is much better than a 10 who is playing hard to get, probably looking around at every other guy. If you have to bow and scrape to get the 10, you’re crazy."
Brave move for you to admit to being a Gator fan here.

Jerry Kill coming over with the OC Beck was also a huge deal that a lot of folks don't realize. Kill was a winner as a head coach and knows how to build a program...his seizures just never allowed him to stay a head coach long enough to get the recognition he deserved. If someone hires Beck away, Kill will follow him and Lea won't look quite as good. He had zero traction at Vanderbilt before those guys came.

Good Lord. Now you're admitting to be a Vandy fan too. Bold move!
