The Official #17 Tennessee vs. Rutgers Game Thread, 1:00 PM ET, TNT

There's definitely a difference in what Tennessee might typically get in a 5 star compared to the Duke, Kentucky and Kansas 5 stars.

This is the first 5 star I can say, yeah, this is the type of guy that would be starting on Duke
I think what you're saying is there's a difference between landing the 15th ranked player and a top 5 one. Which...

I think if you look at John Calipari's last few years (post NIL) he was landing a lot of those 5 stars ranked out of the top 10 but no longer top 5 guys. Kentucky fans thought he forgot how to coach. That's not it.

Beat them both halves and the 2nd we let the starters rest.

Evans is athletic as all get out, hopefully we see a big step from him next season cause right now on offense...needs work.

His shoot mechanics are a bit rough, but he also hesitates when he should shoot, and then shoots when he should maybe shot fake. He just doesn’t look comfortable on offense. But he plays really hard and is a solid defender already.

I'm 28, best freshman I have seen come in and instantly made a difference was Tobias Harris.

Tobias and Nate at this point are neck and neck imo. I'd say Tobias was maybe a bit more physical
Tobias was able to find his way a little easier because the team was stacked with experienced talent. I would put Nate ahead mostly because he is a focal point and handles the ball a lot. Tobias was able to flourish as a role player

When is the next game for the Vols? Got it...tomorrow 5 CT against Houston...now that will be a challenge for sure. Go Vols!

Yes, that'd a good way of saying it and I think it was insanely dumb of Kentucky to fire cal, great coach. Maybe he's had his struggles lately but Pope was a poor hire for the likes of a Kentucky. Kentucky doesn't look good this year

Yeah his offense needs work, could tell that just seeing some of the Overtime Elite games. But he’s had some flashes though of elite defense and that athleticism you mentioned

Since JRich, I’ll always think guys can turn themselves into a better shooter if they put in the work. Punter just sent me a Hey text too lol

I think it's way to early to put a true freshman ahead of someone like Tobias Harris. I get you're exicted and he may have a better NBA career, but how many guys period have better NBA careers than Tobias Harris? Never a star but he is set up for life.

Fair to say Nate has as much upside I think.

Better hope FIRE BARNES rants don’t get started for following CJH in losing the second half. We have some brilliant fans out there.
I turned this game off at halftime and after just now checking the final score my immediate thought was did Barnes have Heupel call offensive plays for the 2nd half

Not sure about that. Through both their first 6 games. Tobias had 68 FGA and Ament is at 76 FGA

Ok, but Nate is having to take much more of a leadership role than Tobias did he arrived.
Agree with that.. but sure wish Tobias had a HC that put as much on him as Aments is. Would’ve been a huge help in March and I think helped him be a top 10-15 pick. Jmo
