Tell me how we can make the CFP

I personally think its impossible and for sure is not happening but let’s humor this astronomical long shot scenario…

So how does it happen?
We beat #12 Vandy
#17 Texas loses to #3 A&M
#15 Miami loss to # 23 Pittsburgh
UCF beats # 9 BYU
Kansas beats Utah

All very possible

We beat Vandy
We jump Virginia
Ohio State beats Michigan
Texas AM beats Texas
Kansas beats Utah
Pitt beats Miami
UCF beats BYU

That’s off the top of my head. We would likely need even more. But it’s not happening.

Hire Pavia for 2026. Kidding.

Bring Joey back for 2026 and import about 6 wide bodied defensive linemen, a clutch kicker and a bruiser running back.

You would need the following to happen and cause Chaos:

Tennessee blows the absolute brakes off Vandy.

Bama loses Iron Bowl
Oklahoma loses to LSU
BYU and Tech and Utah to all lose their final regular season games

You’d then need Miami and Virginia to lose theirs.

Stanford to beat Notre Dame

Oh and Michigan to lose to Ohio State.

While we wouldn’t hold the head to head against a 3 loss Bama and Oklahoma,
I don’t think they’d matter if you had several teams in a pool of 3 losses.

All of that happens and you would maybe have a chance at the conversation but likely still left out.

I was looking at the polls - those who have said they think we end up 13 may have a point. It could get crazy next week. I think the 1 loss and 0 loss teams which make up the top 7 are in danger though a couple of them play teams that if they lost would be interesting.

First and fore most we must beat Vandy. Keep in mind that Vandy needs help as well.

Here are the interesting games:

- Texas and A&M (Texas loses and they will fall below us)
- Miami at Pitt (Miami loses and they will fall below us)
- Michigan and OSU (Michigan winning doesn't help us - that just ensures the B1G gets another team into the playoffs - so root for OSU)
- OU and LSU (OU loses and a fair chance they will fall below us - yes I know they beat us and Bama but it sometimes is around when you lose and who you lose to)
- Oregon and Washington
- Notre Dame at Stanford
- Bama and Auburn
- Vandy and Us
- GT and UGA (GT needs help now and I don't think UGA losing helps us)
- Utah and Kansas

I don't feel we have any shot at getting in the playoffs but would definitely love to see chaos and end up with Michigan, OU, Notre Dame, Vandy, Miami, GT and Bama with loss number 3, Texas with loss number 4.

And I realize that the result of that limits the number of SEC teams to three verses 5, but the media is already attempting to do that by suggesting the B1G should get 4 and the Big 12 should get 2 and Miami should be in if they beat Pitt regardless.

I do think it is likely that a 3-loss team makes the playoffs but that is because the ACC may end up with that scenario.

Some wild event that involves several top 15 teams not being able to play football the remainder of the season.

There are some interesting games this week - could see complete chaos or business as usual. At least 2 of the top 15 teams will lose, just because they are playing against other top 15 teams.

UT getting into the CFP involves going to the portal to shore up our secondary and probably to get a QB, then I think we'll have a good shot in 2026.

Oh.... you mean this year? No. Short of actual meteors falling on select stadiums next week, it's not happening.

Big 12 and ACC would need upsets to cause 1 bid leagues. Texas and Michigan need to lose. Notre Dame has to get upset by Stanford.

It’s not going to happen, but there’s a very small chance.

ACC is only getting 1 team in. Big 12 may get 2 but right now looking to only get 1.

And SEC teams in the top 10 would need to implode to move down.
