Windy's football discussion thread.

he did and he won, but decided not to use it - some slick talking agent must have convinced him he is NFL material
That’s not accurate. He received a onetime waver.
The issue isn’t settled. Joey Swag has been added to the lawsuit. You can bet if they win both Joey Swag and DP will be playing next year.

not sure if this guy is the most reliable but he is the one that said DP isnt coming back

Odds were 7-5 /8-4 before the season depending on who you ask. Meeting expectations leans towards success….even if fans are disappointed because there was a real chance to exceed expectations

A team with your investment level, schedule, and 5th year with the coach shouldn't have 7-5 as an expectation. Y'all need to own some of your decisions and player evaluations that made 7-5 or 8-4 the baseline.

Win, and it’s 9-3 with a winnable bowl game. The decision to let Nico walk was a good one but cratered expectations.

7-5 was based on the ? at QB. Heupel made Aguilar next level and raised the floor. Just need to close the 2 left and get to 10-3.

He did to come back this year. He is involved in another suit that Aguilera just got onboard with to challenge the Juco rule. Where Juco doesn't count against eligibility.

In that video it shows he is out of eligiblity at the 4 year level, but Joey has 1 year left

My opinion is that the expectation for a program with your investment, a 5th year coach, and your schedule is to have a realistic playoff shot in November.

Part of the job is spending money properly when making player evaluations. Missing on Nico and Carter meant you had holes elsewhere.

Not that it matters but I always find it interesting. Same computer simulation that predicted our games with Kentucky and Oklahoma correctly has done the same with Florida. The score for Kentucky was way off but the winner was correct. The Oklahoma score was really close and the outcome was correct.

Its outcome and score for the gater game?

Tennessee 30
Florida 27

If its right I will share a 5 gallon bucket of potatoe salad with Rusty.
Well the outcome was correct!

As a man that does what he says...next time you're in Ft. Myers Rusty potato salad is on me. Only stipulations is you have to wear pants and keep your hands above the table at all times.

Go Vols!!

clock management is the big problem imo

We did. 3rd loss was Nov 1. No one was passing on Nico out of HS. Bringing Boo back was a mistake, it happens.

Not to mention this whole NIL/sharing thing is a new and fluid landscape. Growing pains to be expected.

Missing on Nico created the problem. Last year was the expectation year. This year was a rebuild. And it’s a pretty successful rebuild imo. Saban’s Bama isn’t reality for any program to be top tier every year.

Ya, sometimes **** happens……like your projection is 10-11 wins, then you 2 future nfl corners get hurt, and your Quarterback leaves in April. And projections fall. Most “experts who are former coaches “ said 6-7 wins so it’s never as simple as 5th year.
