Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Guys, on a serious note. Please say a little prayer for old Invol and especially my daughter and her husband. My daughter's dog who used to be ours, is having to be put to sleep. She started acting strange this afternoon and my daughter took her to the emergency vet. Turns out she has brain tumors and is deteriorating very quickly.

Letting her go is hard, especially for my daughter who's been her companion for 10 years but it's the right thing to do.
I tend to like animals more than people. Nothing like the love of a good pet (calm down, @Jackcrevol . We're not discussing the animal "love" you practice. Those poor gerbils.) to make life better. Sometimes it's about just being there. Sorry for your loss.

Yep. Was hoping Heupel was gonna take that LSU job and we'd slide in and grab Kiffin. Disappointed once again.

Is LSU gonna have any money left over for NIL? LOL All these folks talking about how well Kiffin recruits... yeah, but it's a lot easier when you throw major bags at these kids and are the highest bidder, which everyone knows is how recruiting works now... those with the most NIL funds, more times than not, get the elite talent... Ole miss is currently full of NIL transfer$
Gonna be funny if they spend their budget on getting the coach, then don't have enough for him to pillage the portal... Guess we'll see how it all shakes out!

If Ole Miss is going to match any offer, both in annual salary and NIL money, that LSU and Florida make, I’m not sure why Lane would leave. Don’t get me wrong, I think he still will because of his ego, but same resources with fewer expectations and more job security in a position you’re already finding success in? I don’t think simply being located in a state with more high school talent is that big of a deal these days when money is the primary determinant of where a recruit goes.

On Thursday you tell one of your teams at work that if they stay a little longer and finish the job they've been working on, they won't have to come in Friday, but you'll give them Friday's pay for finishing early. . . would you be irritated if one of them complains that they can't work on Friday now?
I would understand. If they work Friday they will most likely hit overtime pay. So I see both sides. I would prefer to be off on Friday but have had employees need overtime because they can’t control their own or their wives spending habits.

Hot take. in nil world, and porthole world - with massive budgets. If you can pay, history of wins goes out the door. Lane has a bird in hand, all things being equal those other programs are toxic. I would stay with hot hand.

I think I would too if the offers were exactly the same, but we know Lane doesn’t think that way. He has no loyalty. He’s been waiting for a “bigger job” since he got to Ole Miss, even if I personally think the concept of “bigger job” doesn’t really exist anymore in a world where Mark Cuban can lift a terrible football program like Indiana out of the doldrums with the right investment and a solid coach.

i am not going. I didn’t have the time to make it happen. I do have season tickets and drive 4 hours to and from games. I also slept in my car the night of the mustard throwing game bc I couldn’t quite make it home. The point was that you can’t complain about others not showing up if you are not willing to make that investment either. I have no issues with the guy that is at the game complaining about the rest of us.

I haven’t seen many over the top statements about Josh Heupel. The overwhelming majority have been very supportive. As many Vol fans as we have all over the world, we can’t expect all of them to be 100%. We have the best fans in college sports. Let’s go Vols and kick that Gator azz!!! It is time to rise up and show Florida who is the better Football team.
Used to be a season tix guy also
4.5 hours away
Got priced out, and Not just bc of Tennessee but everything else involved with making the trip 6/7 times a year
Way too much

Now I’m maybe a 1 game a year guy but watching at home is fantastic

Scientists are saying that urban racoons may be in the process of self-domestication. They are evolving to look cuter and be more trusting/docile around humans, similar to the process that created domestic cats.
“Ok, but there’s more to it than just looking cute and putting forth a trusting facade. You have to learn to sleep for almost an entire day. You have to knock things off shelves for seemingly no reason. Walk across keyboards, but only when they’re currently in use. And more than anything, you have to make the humans think you’re doing them a favor by letting them take care of you.”

P.S. “Don’t fall for the canine ‘genuine loyalty and affection’ garbage. They’ve been doing it wrong for centuries…”
