Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2026-27

I’m watching the Vandy game and their home announcer just went on a long tangent about how much more balance and talent they have this season.

I’m not sure what he’s smoking but he can pass it this way. Delusional lol. Blakes is really their only player in double figures. Washington is averaging 10 right now but they have played a shite schedule, you can halve that in the SEC for her.

You aren’t making decisions pertaining to Tennessee personnel so you aren’t relevant in deciding that. You can watch Florida as much as you want. Thanks for that info.
We're sure lucky you don't have any barring on any decisions to be concerning any Tennessee athletes.

Now they’re talking about what an asset Del Rosario is because she has “NCAA tournament experience.”

From the bench lmao.

Never take a big girl transfer from Kim Mulkey. If she couldn’t make a player out of them, you can’t either. Promise.

Trying to watch ND and USC but so far it’s really boring. I don’t think either team looks very impressive. USC interior game lacks a lot to be desired.

Messy game with poor ball control both ways. 11 turns for SC and 10 for ND.

Syracuse takes down Utah, their first P4 opponent of the season.

Although they struggled to score in the first half, excellent defense kept the game close and they came out explosive in Q3. They took control and took the lead and Utah just seemed to have no answers. The stats were fairly even throughout. Syracuse had more FT shots but scored at a lesser %. It was the rebounding for Syracuse and having better 3PT shooting (32% to Utah's 23%) that won them the game. They outscored Utah in the 2nd half 40-24.

Phelia lead team in the 1st half in scoring and basically kept them in it when everyone else struggled offensively (and she played all 40 minutes). However it was Dominique Darius that lead the team with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 100% FT shooting, 40% FG shooting, and only 2 fouls. She is a major get for this team.

I will say that I had low expectations going into this season (I've stated here) and fans I talked to at the start of the season were worried, based off the disaster that was last year. However, I feel like the Orange are much improved this year. Far from the exhibition game, they actually play like a cohesive unit. There is still the issue of uneven scoring, but if they can continue to rebound well and play solid defense, I think they'll fare better than much year. They're now 4-0 in the season, and granted, they haven't yet played a true upper echelon team. But it looks miles better than last year.

The real test will be on Sunday against #6 Michigan. There's a few ways that game could go, depending on the outcome of Michigan's game v UConn tonight. I wouldn't be shocked if the Orange played Michigan close for at least a half.

Notre Dame just cannot get anything going. They remind me a lot of our team in 22-23 with Kellie. They have some good individual pieces but just can’t get any flow going offensively at all. Looks really disjointed. Too much dribbling, too much standing and waiting for HH to do something.

Everyone on that team was always just waiting for Horston to do it all but that’s a big ask for one player.

They look so much better than last season. They’ll be top half of the ACC and I think they could be a surprise top 4 finish in that league.

Big difference IMO was rebounding, allowing Syracuse to take a lot more shots. Otherwise as you pointed out, stats were pretty even.

Is Michigan really that much better than USC? Or is this one of those games you look at as being a sloppy mess and the home team was helped by the crowd?

Ugly game but great bounce back for ND after getting smoked by Michigan.

Not necessarily a bad loss for USC but it didn’t look like a good one either. Poorly managed game and poor coaching.

It’s hard to say, I think we’ll know more about Michigan in two and half hours so I’m going to reserve judgement.

I do not think USC is all that though.

Coaching malpractice on Gottlieb’s part continuing to have Davidson handle the ball. She does not have a good handle and had 8 turnovers. She’s too lanky and loose with the ball and ND guards bothered her all night. Also tends to dribble herself into a pickle. They have two good point guards but don’t use them at all.

All those times they got their pocket picked at the top of the key or one played dribbled straight into four defenders and launched up a shot ... oof. The final play was pretty indicative of how they played all game.
