Yeah, that stretch from 1989-2001 really spoiled alot of our fanbase and those who were the most spoiled by it are largely the same people who appreciated it at the least at the time. Our program has a great history and a tradition, but our real strength was in the Neyland Era, since roughly 1970 or so, that kind of success we enjoyed in the 90's is generally the exception not the rule. The 1990's period was brought about by a long period of stability with good coaching in Knoxville and remarkably poor coaching/turmoil at some neighboring programs and conference powers like Georgia, Clemson and LSU in particular. This created increased availability of top recruits at the exact time we had a great recruiter ascending like Fulmer. Like anyone else, I would like to win every game, but not long ago 7-3 would have been a high point, the fact we are looking at cycling down to a 9-3/8-4 type record shows we've moved up a rung on the latter whether the Legion of Miserables realize it or not.
