Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

This isn’t about honesty, insight, or helping the fanbase. This is about you needing to reaffirm the same narrative over and over because it gets you attention.

So here’s the real question you always avoid. What’s the actual value of you repeating this?
What outcome are you trying to create?

Because it clearly isn’t solutions, it isn’t analysis, and it isn’t valuable. It’s just you circling the same take to feel ‘right’ about a player who’s been hurt.

If there’s an actual point beyond self-validation, I’m all ears. But so far, it’s just the same loop with zero value added, and this is one hell if a way to wish a player the best. Consider me not convinced.
Could care less. Believe what you want. It’s a forum full of opinions. Grow thicker skin or block me. When you actually bring any worth while info it will be the first.

Yup - conjecture.

IMO it's just different, not worse. Could be better. Easily.

This roster is loaded and Josh Reynolds was the slotted replacement for Frank all along. They now have four coaches with recruiting chops on staff plus one as a bench coach in CCJ with hitting expertise that coached under Schloss and O'Sullivan in his background. He brings recruiting connections into traditional deep south areas we were not getting to well. Kivett is still the RC, Things have gone well with him there.

Elander will still recruit and close the deals - all the players have looked to him for guidance all along. You will probably see the hitting emphasis go to RBI instead of swinging for the fences every pitch. Solo HR's are still only one run produced. Getting deep into innings with timely hitting, doubles and going the other way is CJE's and CCJ's jam. CCJ shores up every aspect of CJE - hitting and D. Look at his background. When C-Mo was tearing it up, so was Cags at UF who got drafted ahead of him. UF led the conference in fielding % last season at .982. I expect much better D going forward.

As volbeast said look for a pitching lab. I am hoping that happens because that is what CJR can do.. As good as Frank was, it could be better. They have been winning with hitting. The pitching and D needs to improve. Last season was not it despite the talent.
I like the way you talk.

It’s well and truly Elander’s program now.
Everything, from this day forward, is gonna be his stamp on this program and I believe that's the way he wants it to be. He had to have prior knowledge of the staff members leaving to reunite with TV because he replaced each one immediately. That's really unprecedented in the sports world as well as the corporate world.

See, this is exactly the problem with the ‘insider information’ narrative that McCoy quit on the team and is just training for the NFL. The guy had ACL surgery in the offseason. To claim that anyone knew he was sitting out the season to ‘train for the NFL’ only 6–7 months after ACL reconstruction isn’t inside info, it’s a lie dressed up as credibility.

I’m not pushing back because he brought negative news. I’m pushing back because he’s spreading harmful, baseless information and calling it fact.

The second he tore his ACL, the likelihood of him playing this season dropped dramatically. Look at any data set on ACL recovery timelines for NFL players and most don’t return until 9–12 months. So turning around and accusing him of using Tennessee to ‘pay for his NFL training’ because he didn’t come back faster than the average NFL professional isn’t insight. It’s attention-seeking narcissism disguised as reporting.
Please check my posts and share why I said he quit on his teammates and is a quitter. I’ll wait…

I said before the season he wasn’t going to play and train for the nfl. And I have said repeatedly that. I wish him the best and he is a great player. I never called him a quitter or a bad teammate.

This is the problem here. Words that aren’t said start being used because you brought something that wasn’t overly positive and fit certain opinions in peoples head.

I could be wrong. Maybe he did try to come back and wants to play. But when you’re told
something before the season and it comes true, well it kind of looks like the info was correct.

AP and hubbs have on record stated months ago that he had people in his camp saying to train and not play. They even said today on the podcast that they didn’t see him playing even if he could to prepare for the nfl. Don’t call me a liar because you can’t handle bad news.

I thought Tony hired his guy and frank was staying?
Tony is getting his guys around him to carry his jock strap in case he falls on his ass which is a very real possibility at the MLB level. He's going from basically a 60-game season to 162 game season. That's gonna be tough to manage right off the bat

I am confused. My disagreement was that we needed to go out and pay big money from a P5 school to get a QB to come in. I do not think we need to create a stop gap at QB that costs big money and creates a barrier for the 2 young QB's. We need to get a very experienced QB from a lower level school that will not cost much money. Then let all 3 compete.
I think George will be our best QB yet under Heupel and then Faizon could be special. Get a depth piece for QB and spend on needs. DBs and DL. 2026 is the year to make a run IMO

I was hoping he would play but there is too much money on the line to risk it. If he goes down his draft stock lowers because it will delay him playing and he could be labeled as injury prone. I’m sure the staff and teammates know what’s on the line for him and are ok with it. If they really care about his future, they could be the people that are holding out. Its a college game and a business. Thanks for the info.

Price was asked what's the chances these 4 players return next year

Moe-95%

Heard-50/50

A Carter-50/50

Ethan Davis-100%
All five starting OL, two 4/5 five star QBs, good TE room and fantastic WR room? I’ll allow it! Let’s see the bishop/morris show at RB too!

Spend on defense in the portal and let’s make a huge run!

I can’t speak for everyone, and wasn’t part of the twitter or whatever it’s called revolt, but I don’t EVER want anyone who knew about multiple children getting raped at the football facility where he was working, and ignored it, to be hired by the University of Tennessee. So no, it wasn’t nonsense.
It never affected any potential job he's ever had other than ONE and everything was based on one claim by one guy in court several others,
since discredited, who was just testifying for insurance purposes.

I'm not at all going to engage further in a debate about it, but your take that this one dude who made these accusations, and not just about Schiano, is more credible than the dozens of people who backed up the coaches he singled out as having absolutely no knowledge of it, is pretty generous to your own ability to test whether one person is lying or not.

If you were so justified, then Schiano wouldn't be working. He's only ever had ONE issue.

Latest from Ole Miss Mod Chase Parham on Kiffin.

"The Rebels and Tigers believe Kiffin will be in Baton Rouge if he takes a new job or he'll decide he can't leave this team and stay with the Rebels."

More recent update:

"There's a lot of buzz in the coaching/agent world that it was Florida that leaked it's soon-to-be-canceled interview with Tulane coach Jon Sumrall. The sourcing/speculation/gossip is Florida has basically been ghosted by Kiffin as this week has progressed and the leak of an interview with Sumrall was meant to re-engage him. Like Chase, I've basically quit paying attention to Florida, so maybe it worked, though I sincerely doubt it. I think this is an Ole Miss-LSU thing now. LSU has let Kiffin know it will basically do whatever he wants. He just has to, as Chase pointed out in the start of this thread, make a decision."

Could be a disaster

Spend on defense, especially at DC!
