Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I feel bad for people who haven’t accepted it yet.
Yeah. They'll learn. It's kind of crazy when you go back watch how this rivalry got started. The first 4 years, home team won... So we just traded back and forth.

Then 1994 happened. And it's mostly sucked since then.

If I'm hanging on to something it's that we've split the last 4, so you don't have the weight of an overall streak hanging over our heads any more. It's no longer a matter of if we can win...I know we can win.

But yeah. Winning down there is as rare as the Hailey's comet it feels like.

So I'm now 30+ years conditioned to the 'see it to believe it' mindset. 🤷‍♂️

That said... GBO.

You just made my point too. A league full of average and bad teams and we are in 7th ? Place .
Don’t think a couple of plays is equal to a single play in each game, but that’s fine.

If we both made each others points and no one wants to seed ground to the other then we will just have to agree to disagree.

I’m with you. I had Tennessee 8-4 with losses to UGA, Bama, Oklahoma and Florida preseason. Felt this was a rebuild. I’m optimistic we win Saturday but a loss won’t surprise me. We’ve only won 4 games down there all time.

Total conjecture here. But I’m concerned baseball is in for a tailspin. You just don’t listen to fans and the current team. And to be candid Elander may have been the best we could have gotten. So maybe moot point.
you do when it is also the best choice. Everything has been awesome so far… He has brought in one of the top assistant coaches and has been dominating in recruiting. All the same hitting and pitching principles will continue so I am expecting a dominant 2026 season.

You’re example of 85 bears , Tebow gators or 98 Vols all support my argument that defense alone doesn’t win championships.

McMahon , Tebow and Tee Martin were all really good QB’s.
I said the QB doesn’t have to be great but bad QB’s aren’t winning championships!

80,s teams? 😂😂😂. Hell let’s go back
the 50’s and grab some teamf s , we know the game hasn’t changed a bit. That’ll prove your point, lol!
They were adequate qbs, not very good. Bad qb play will kill you but if you can run the ball and play defense a game manager that doesn't make mistakes is all it takes.

Frank had been grooming him to take over when he retired. That could have been the end of the year. I don't know how long he really planned on going. It wasn't more than a couple. It's a new day. Change is the only part of life that is inevitable. Seems a waste of time to do anything other than embrace it.
Adapt and overcome. This is the winning way.

A run game and defense can and has won. Take the '85 Bears or the Tim Tebow Gators, heck the Vols in '98, none had great qbs They won by playing defense and running the ball. There are a myriad of examples throughout history where this the case.
There are also many examples of teams that were offensive juggernauts with qbs with gaudy numbers and lost, the B12 for crying in the creek. Defense never goes in a slump and travels.

Tim Tebow was an incredible college QB. One of the greatest college football players of all time.
