Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

Definitely not wealthy like many of you gents but I was able to get my daughter a sweet gaming PC the other night. She had wanted one for a long time since she has been gaming with her buddies online using her laptop, which is a nice gaming laptop really, but they just don't have the hardware to generate those games without lagging or having issues (which will get you smoked in FPS games when everyone else is NOT lagging). She had decided to take some of her savings and make her "1st big purchase" as she put it. Fortunately I found out and was able to get it for her myself as a surprise. She would never have asked for something like that...she never does. I got her set up nicely though and got her a sweet headset too that auto-mutes the mic when you flip it up which is pretty cool. Got it all set up for her the other night when i was still having chest pains but the blood pressure meds were not working yet. Thanks for your prayers guys. Got it done and she is ecstatic. She is still my lil Daddy's girl even though she is now sadly 17yo.

Watching the E60 on Espn about Pat Tillman (RIP) right now. Curious to see what they say about him getting fragged by friendly fire in the WOT...I know Pats parents were upset after it happened and thought it was foul play that got swept under the rug. He quit the NFL immediately after 9/11 and joined the Army intent on being a Ranger with his brother. He made it and went to war. Unlike Cassius Clay and many others, his service wasnt a glorified USO tour. He went to war because he wanted to go kill terrorists. His Pappaw was at Pearl Harbor. He turned down a 3year deal to keep playing in the NFL and enlisted. May God bless him and his family and keep them free from harm.

Was really impressed by these headphones. They were only $75 at Target too and the mic auto mutes itself when you flip it up which is neat. They are called A10s but I dont remember the brand name. Really comfortable set IMO

Awesome.

Take out your garbage.

Hahahahaha!!

Im not touching that radioactive mess. That came from a 17yos bedroom. She had to clean her room up so we could get it all set up too. She has a "bunk bed" up top with the built in desk underneath instead of a bottom bunk. Shes dual emrollment HS thru Liberty now...so thats her classroom and bedroom in 14x12 maybe a little more 🤔 She's a straight A student still and never been in any trouble so I dont care what her room looks like tbh. If she wants to live in filth, thats her decision in her room for the most part. Fortunately she keeps it clean enough to be healthy and messy enough for her to be happy as they say. I bet that trash smells worse than LG though. Not my problem haha

Heard a couple encouraging stats in Flarda week. After averaging double digit missed tackles on defense all season...in our last 2 games we had 5 and 5missed each. Thats improvement. Also Lagway leads the SEC with 13INT...so one would think we can force a turnover at some point. This flarda team nearly beat OM and UGA...but they also quit last week at kentucky when they got down a couple TDs and got hammered by 27pts IIRC. Thats a beat down...not a loss. They have a very anemic offense. If we can just start fast and go up 14-0 or better like we did vs UGA....the students will leave on a 3-7 team and go party elsewhere. The team may quit too on their interim (WRs)coach. Weird that the DC nor OC became interim coach? Its the WR coach according to AP....

It wasn’t accidental friendly fire that killed him. And yes the Army covered it up.

If you get a chance, you should watch The Tillman Story

Chris Low on the Josh and Swain radio show anticipates changes coming on the defensive side before next year. Speculates some being asked to leave, others being hired away or leaving for other reasons.

Marcus mentioned earlier about Chop's family in Auburn and he may be drawn to be closer to them. I wonder who else might be out?

I hope we don't lose RG and I really don't think any of the defensive coaches need to be let go since they are all pretty effective on the recruiting trail. IMO the Hype needs to add to the staff with some guys that are experts at teaching specific positions.

Garner unfortunately is the Barn alum whose family members live there with new health problems. We may lose him...would be a significant blow to program even with Chop staying at DE coach and VFL Marion Hobby taking over as Dline coach. He is an analyst/asst Dline coach now but has FBS and NFL coaching resume. Really hoping we keep all 3 guys. Chop may be the best recruiter on this staff. He must spend half his days on the phone with recruits bc he is primary recruiter on all the Dline guys in every class and some OLBs too from HS because we turn them into EDGEs

Chops real name is Lavorne Harbin? Or something like that

Percy Harvey? Corch Erving Meyers

Thats what i thought too based on allegations/fears from his family back then bc he was openly critical of some of the stuff we did. He deployed to Iraq then came home for a bit and deployed to Afg.

You should watch the program. There are several guys who were actually there in that canyon where he was shot on the show. Including 1 of the guys who was in the Humvee and fired on Pats position. Those guys in the vehicle were kicked out. The only guy who lived out of the 3 men who were fired upon is also on there a lot. He was on the ridge with Pat and an Afg National that was working with us. The Afg in the turban was shot and killed 1st...thinking that the group of 3 were among the many enemies firing down into the canyon road as the caravan of Army vehicles slowly made its way through. They all say it was getting dark and 1 of the soldiers on the same side of the truck as Pat and co spotted the Afg national and thought that those 3 were enemies. He fired and killed the Afg and the other men in the truck started firing there as well by reflex. They only stopped (the men were dead/wounded/pinned down up there...when there was a brief lull in fire and they heard screams for a medic coming from up there. When they realized and immediately tried to help and evac those 3men...Pat and Afg were dead. The other guy lived and is on the show. The Sgt who was driving is on the show too...he was kicked out as well. They were towing a broke down HV back to base under protest at the time. The platoon LT wanted to just torch it and leave it, but command wouldnt let them. Command not only made them tow it back very slowly thru that canyon, they split the convoy into 2 groups while in the field and down 1 vehicle and apparently didn't consider chain of command within the group either. I believe the Sgt driving that truck was the highest ranking NCO in their (2nd and rear) new convoy group and they were ill equipped, and greatly slowed towing a broke down HV over treacherous terrain with boulders everywhere. All the higher ranking NCOs and the Lt were in the 1st group to pass thru the canyon which Pat was a part of. It seems he and the other 2 had dismounted and went rearward on foot when they heard the 2nd group getting cut to pieces in the canyon back behind them. The enemy had taken up positions on both sides of the canyon top and it was a shooting gallery for them. Fish in a barrel. Pat went to engage the enemy and help his brothers get through with the broke down HV and paid for it with his life. Thats the story told thru the show...which is told mostly using Pats mom and the guys who were there with clips of video interspersed. It was really well done. The leadership who demanded the HV be towed back and split the platoon in half faced no discipline. It seems like they were responsible for what happened. According to this program which Pats family willingly made the show with anyway....
