2026 Lady Vols Recruiting

Texas signed one high school player in 2025.
Some of you all post anything like facts aren’t public records lol.
If their money meant so much they would be landing 4 or 5 elite prospects every year.
The money didn’t matter in 2025. If TN felt it was worth it with this player then they would’ve approach it that way.
Oliviyah Edwards and Saniyah Hall are the two players that move the 2026 class.

buy it!

we had a chance at history...#2 Edwards, #8 Crittenden, #9 Abii and #11 Jones and only reached into our pockets for one (no knock against Edwards,,,she is indeed worthy of the effort and I am thankful we have her)...But ALL 3 were lost due to $'s

Danny,,,,are you listening....The staff didn't fail,,,the athletic department did!

Danny White included a contract clause that would increase Kim Caldwell's salary to meet or exceed the highest paid women's basketball coach in NCAA Division I if she won a national championship. This clause, which he stated was to show the university's commitment to winning, was put in place before the 2024 season.
  • Contract clause: The contract includes a clause that, if Caldwell wins a national title, her salary will be raised to match or exceed the highest salary of any other women's basketball coach in NCAA Division I.
  • Purpose: The clause was designed to demonstrate the university's serious commitment to getting the Lady Vol program back to a championship level.
  • Timing: The clause was established in April 2024 when Caldwell was hired as the new head coach for the University of Tennessee women's basketball team.
When does the serious commitment start?
Again, the allocation of Rev share is never going to be close to enough especially for MBB, WBB and BB. You literally have to get more via the collectives. You do not need Danny White to fix it. He can’t nor should he. He jump started things during the hire with some pre-commitments. Others have to earn it and work it as you go along.

One domestic, and one from Ireland.

Texas was willing to pay 2025 Aaliyah Chavez her $1 million asking price; but, Oklahoma and Jordan Brand offered $1.5 million. So, Texas might have had that NIL to spill over into its 2026 recruiting class.

My point stands. Didn’t really matter. Tennessee got Oliviyah Edwards. USC got Saniyah Hall.
That moved the 2026 class.

They (Texas) had to reach.. and are overpaying for their 2026 class.
That’s what happens when Coach Caldwell and AD White shook up the high school recruiting landscape!
Tennessee signing the 2025 and 2026 classes in the SEC is the best recruiting ever by a new staff in 20 months.
Has not been done.
Tennessee has a Top 10 HS class and remains in the mix for another HS prospect after signing the #1/#2 class in 2025.
The transfer portal again will run through Knoxville after signing the #1 class in 2025.

Just wow not to be top three. Disappointing not to get a second high end player from the three targeted.

It’s really not shocking. When you have the #1 class in 2025 you’re going to miss on a couple in 2026. Just not as much time to go around.

Texas didn’t have much in 2025 but will have a nice class for 26.

I also don’t think Ruby did our recruiting any favors. Parents don’t like seeing that. At all.

Not understanding the shock either. We had 5 players in the class of 2025, i didn't expect that many for 2026. I expected 2-3 and we got 2. You rarely see back to back years of big recruiting classes. I think CKC followed up her large recruiting class with a solid smaller one. She still has needs to be filled (1-2 more bigs and 1-2 3 point specialist) but that’s what the portal is for.

Only Make Believe 🤔 we got beat out and we have to move on and work harder.

Yall are saying you didn't expect a big class, well the coaching staff probably did, they went after quite a few players. For this system to be so hard to learn, you would probably like players that start in it as freshmen. You wouldn't want to rely on the portal every year with the system being SO hard to learn....right?

I have to agree with Jumper in saying, having foundational players is important, which is why I think it was needed that we strung 2 solid high school recruiting classes back to back. Nevertheless, I agree with Knox, we really did get the mover and shaker of the 2026 class in Edwards, she is going to be phenomenal and the type of high impact freshman we need so the sting isn't so bad.

None that I have heard except she plans to sign in the next spring with one of four teams which we are one of those.

That finalist list of Tennessee, LSU, UConn, and South Carolina was refuted as being inaccurate. I know Texas is recruiting her as Vic Schaefer just started following Okeke on Instagram (he rarely follows any recruits until they sign their LOIs), and vice versa.

Going to need two more bigs and really two really great three point shooters that are also athletic. That is a tall order to fill. I agree Danny distributes the money as allocated and that is what you have to recruit with. If you need more it has to come from donors or boosters who claim to be businesses. Lady Vols not getting any of football or mens basketballs money. Saw a huge overreaction when Tony left that the Lady Vols were getting some of baseballs money. That turned out to be false.
My post was perhaps the LVs could get some of the baseball money. It was a suggestion not a declaration. I still, however, believe it would be a great idea.

Tennessee has the no.2 player in the 2026 class plus a Top 50 player via 247Sports.

A year removed from the #1/#2 class in 2025 via high school and the transfer portal.

On this message board saying that isn’t arguably the best recruiting in WBB by a coach in 20 months is just for jibberish talk.

They (CKC and the LV staff) don’t have to prove anything.
The roster earned a Top 10 ranking to start the 2026 season and ended the season in the Top 15 in year where it currently sits.

After seeing teams play including Tennessee which is receiving unnecessary backlash from a small portion of the fanbase, this team has the upside to finish in the Top 5-10 rankings.

You don’t know what a top dog is if you claim Tennessee doesn’t have them.

We need to prove our system works and go farther in the tourney this year...that will help with recruiting more top dogs
I don’t think that’s the main issue, I think it’s the substitution pattern. Some players just won’t want to play that way, they don’t mind pressing, but certain elite players want to stay on the floor, no amount of winning will change that.

THIS!!! There is a lot of social media hoopla about her system, to the point that the twin's father has to defend it every once in a while. Kim had a lot of momentum coming into this season with the Sweet 16 finish in her first year, a top high school recruiting/portal class, and a pre-season #8 ranking, but the Ruby situation, and the way we've came out the gate so far this season may stifle it. I think its imperative, while she has a pretty good team on paper this year, she proves her system can work and at least get us to an EE or FF. I really want to waste some money and go to Phoenix next year!!!!

Lady Vols will be fine! Players will want to come play here in the portal. Rough start to the season, but they'll only get better as the year goes on!

I think the Ruby situation put a lot of stress on the team. And now Latham being gone. Just have to work through it all.

I think you're right. Some recruits have aspirations of being All-Conference and All-Americans; you can't earn those awards if you aren't logging major minutes and scoring at least 15 points a game.

I somewhat agree, but the top players do get a bulk of the minutes. I think its the frequency in which she subs. Like every 60-90 second subbing, I could see being a problem for a top player and honestly you can tell it on certain player's faces sometimes. If she keeps them in maybe 2-3 or 3-5 minutes, I think it'll go over a little better with top recruits.....if it even is a problem to begin with.
