Yeah...its weird.

I don't know if he'll be as successful as Barnes has been here, but Penn State firing Franklin 6 games in to his 12th season there while he's 2nd in all time wins for them AFTER the huge scandal reminds me of Texas firing Barnes.

VA Tech got a proven P4 hire in this whole mess with way bigger/better jobs vacant.

When did a 68% winning percentage become mediocre? I mean 8 wins a season average is underperforming, especially at a Penn State...but Frank Beamer for his career at VA Tech was a 66.2% winner.

I actually think because of how bad the ACC is right now Franklin likely wins 10 games a season there...will just be curious how long it takes him to build things back up. Because they have not recruited well at all in the last few years.

I'm not saying that he will be bad but the way some people are talking and making him into the next coming and the death of Tennessee and he will kill us in recruiting is ridiculous.
Like it or not brand means something and he is taking a step down. I think Franklin is a good coach, just a super jerk. He will win 7 or 8 games a year.

You're right Franklin isnt the greatest but he will have Virginia Tech in CFP playoffs within 3 years. Let me use some of youns terminology, that weakass ACC will be easy to win ...

I didn't say he was a bad coach but he ain't gonna win a Natty and he isn't going affect Tennessee at all at VT. He's taking a step down, State Penn was a brand name and that has inherent advantages.

And Virginia Tech likely ends up with a better coach than Penn St does for at least the next 4 years.

That job has effectively become second tier job, I haven't even heard any buzz around the job....... Who are the realistic candidates?

That's different than saying he's a mediocre coach.

I'm not worried about his recruiting impacting us either, he's going from Penn State to VA Tech. It's like 360 miles between those schools. He will recruit the same exact areas he has been recruiting with a lesser brand on his chest.

You said he would be a flop. I think he makes the playoffs a few times as the ACC is bad. And he is a great recruiter and evaluator. I don’t ever think he wins a Natty either though.

Yeah because the current system only cares about wins and losses so teams will only schedule bad teams outside of conference like Indians to be rewarded.

And once a coach loses three games, he gets fired because they aren’t in playoff contention at a big program!

Great idea! Keep going with 12, which actually diminishes the regular season as fans check our early. I would rather watch 11-12 great games a year and get to the playoffs still at 8 wins.

But hey let’s keep letting fans check out early and see only the same big teams make it every year.
