I thought of that role as well. Just not sure it hits the level of iconic. To me, about the same as Faye Dunaway's Bonnie Parker or slightly below. But strong for sure.

I know who Faye Dunaway is, I grew up on some of her movies, and don't know her as Bonnie Parker. Just an age gap thing, I suppose.

Fury Road is one of the few best movies of the whole century.

The problem is that I don't think it's actually viewed that way by enough people to make the role iconic. To be sure I'm not misremembering I checked 3 different "best of the 2000's" lists and it wasn't on any of them.

FTR I think it's underrated in that regard.

Edit- I did find it listed as #19 on a "dystopian movies" list.

Well, I would say this is more about the character's reach than the film's actual popularity. Mad Max was a Mel Gibson franchise. They committed the ultimate sin of franchises and replaced the male protagonist with a female protagonist, and it ended up being the best Mad Max movie in large part due to her performance.

And it won enough Oscars to be considered, but it also does rank.

No need to sell me, I'm a fan, but I'm stating outright that the first three searches for "best movies of the 2000's" didn't mention it at all and even on that list of dystopian movies it was 19. I'm glad some sources appreciate it like we do but clearly it's not as universally thought of that way.

Fury Road is most definitely top ten of this century. I don't see how anyone could argue against that. Furiosa is an amazing character and performance by Theron. Endlessly rewatchable and a sheer spectacle to behold.

The thing about it is they didn't give her super powers. She's not Capt. Marvel. They gave her a mechanical arm and some grit, and she went toe to toe with the scariest dudes, and nobody is coughing up their popcorn sarcastically going, "yeah right!" She sold that **** and made us believe.
