Great hire for both sides. Franklin needs an under the radar job to rehab the image alittle bit and Va Tech is clamoring for a 10 win season again. Great on both ends

I’ve said ever since the VT job opened and Franklin was fired that that would be the best marriage/outcome for both parties. It’s a mid-tier P5 program where 8-9 wins is the expectation, that’s pretty much Franklin’s ceiling.

Eh. He surpassed 10 wins 6 times at Penn State.

And he doesn't have Michigan or Ohio State in the ACC. I think he'll coach circles around everyone in the ACC

The problems were much deeper than Hamilton. It was all the way to the top of the UT System.

True that. And, those things usually go together. If your System is all messed up, how are you going to attract at top-level AD (or even know what one is). You want to go in a fairly long walk in the dessert. Do what both Florida and LSU have been doing in recent years.

I think he’s trying to keep his team focused and make a run in the playoffs.

A couple years ago they were having a good year And when the coaching rumor mill started up he did exactly as you would expect and let rumors run wild and soaked up all the attention he could and it became a distraction and he team seemed to hit a wall.
I think that’s why he’s only been saying how much he loves ole miss and not acting like he might leave.

Virginia will start recruiting them much better too. The competition is only going to get more fierce I think. But we will get ours. We have bags to drop and we they don't have "Mc Donald's" on them anymores.

Al Davis embarrassed himself worse than Kiffin. What did Kiffin say? Al took it personal. That's not smart. Clearly Kiffin went back and rebuilt any burnt bridges. He's being mentioned for every open job and a couple of NFL ones.

Not a huge Franklin fan but kudos to him for actually getting a job and working for his salary. Unlike Butch Jones going to work as Sabans stooge so he could milk every last dime out of us. Shows his total lack of character. What a joke he is.

Really, last year Banks was a genius and now he is an idiot. Next year he will be a genius again.
It's the jimmies and the joes and showing them how to go. I have won it all and had to very little because I trained up the jimmie and the joes, let them go, and they stayed healthy. Train up a child in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it.

I don’t think Heupel is going anywhere soon and if he does it’s not because he gets fired.

So with that said I wouldn’t freak out if it happened, like I might have the last 3 coaching hires because DW has a solid record of hiring good coaches in different places and all sports.

There’s a lot of problems on D. DTs are ineffective, ends haven’t really been disruptive against good teams, LBs are out of position a lot, safeties are terrible at everything. We need way better talent on that side.

Franklin is going to start getting every kid from VA, WV, and KY and start seriously hurting us for DMV and NC. He's gonna pull a bunch of TN kids too. Probably still has connections to his time at Vandy.
