Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

The heck it isn’t. It’s one of the most watched teams in football. A huge fan base with great resources in a beautiful part of the country. But we don’t have an opening and I am not expecting to see one in the foreseeable future. But there will be plenty of interest whenever the day comes that we have to find another coach. GBO!
You mean just like we had plenty of interest after Fulmer was forced to retire and every coaching hire since.

He was the better blocker and was more reliable catching the ball last year. He's been a solid player, but Davis and the two freshmen have higher ceilings. Hate that he got hurt, but our offense will probably be a little more dangerous with Davis getting more time and hopefully Brame gets on the field more.

If thats the guy that got hit in the facemask with the football on that 10 yard out he can stay on the bench

Man no one will Heup any slack these days. Hope y'all will be happy when we are back in the desert of anonymity.
Come on Jack I’m one of Heupel’s biggest supporters and sunshine pumpers on this site. Saying he made a mistake on this player with all the known history is not in any way questioning my admiration for Heupel. I think he did it for the right reasons but with a little bit of background work you could have known in this case you were playing with fire. Anyway he’s no longer a Volunteer so I will never bring him up again. I truly hope Heupel retires at the big orange.

I think Telander goes the herring route. The talent is coming now and will be older next year.

Carter is really good. Been injured all year. Was a stud last year. Looks worse when you have a bad star and Telander next to you.
Agreed that we need Carter to stay. On top of his talent he’s a really good leader. Need more like him. Telander is a good solid player but just lacks the speed for a modern linebacker.

I’m really not talking about the injury stuff as much as I am talking about “the other stuff”

the stuff that has been made public regarding boo’s absence and issues with the team

“Like to me, I’m confused. I don’t really know what’s going on about dismissed or the extra stuff he said in the media with me in the locker room or following the rules or standards.”“I’ve been doing everything I could. I told him I was hurt. He wanted me to play hurt throughout the whole season,” Carter continued. “I don’t know, how he’s putting it is making it sound like the stuff that happened in fall camp still.”

Am I missing something here? Perhaps I’m misinterpreting but what I gather from that is he’s saying coach was and is being dishonest about the bolded. Like it didn’t happen? Like it wasn’t the entire reason for his dismissal? And now he’s trying to make it about a phantom injury? It’s sly and I don’t like it.

Boo should read Mark Twain: "It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

Beef Telander up. Put him on the line.

I refuse to blue font.

Sounding nega to me....

In no universe do I think we are going through a coaching change, BUT you cannot compare a coaching search led by Mike Hamilton/Nose Picker/Revolving uni Presidents to one led by Danny White/Donde/Randy.

Heupel has worked out well for us, but he was not considered a splash hire or a "top tier" guy. Thankfully DW missed on first choice Jimmy Frank.

I have to tell you fine folks that the game on Saturday was great even if our guys were sleepwalking a bit. It was my son's first time seeing the Vols in person and it was worth all the bumper to bumper traffic on 75 south heading home. He loved walking around seeing different stuff on campus. Got a good spot for the Vol walk and he got a five from the likes of Redmond, West, Herring, Pendleton, Sanders, Staley, Matthews, Telander, and more...special shout out to Max Gilbert for coming straight over to my son instead of continuing down the middle of the road. I know a lot of the guys are focused and have their headphones going to help them lock in, so nothing against them, but it meant the world to my son to have all those players stick their hand out.

The flyover was deafening and something he'd never experienced. While it wasn't the slaughter we hoped for, there were still many great moments that gave him a little taste of what Neyland can be. I think he's solidly a Vol now and has already asked about coming back. Absolutely one of the highlights of my life.

That’s awesome! I need to get back up there with the family. Have gone to neutral site games the past few years but haven’t been to Neyland in a few years. I’m inspired!

If I'm an Athletic Director and I have to lock up a talented coach long-term, so promise him a ridiculous buyout, I would write that contract up the way the PSU AD wrote Franklin's. VT is paying him 9/yr which completely erases the 8 million he was due until the end of his PSU contract. So they got out with basically paying him this year's salary to go coach somewhere else.

Now it remains to be seen if they will upgrade with their hire. I think it's safe to say VT did.
