Valencia Women's team secured a dramatic victory thanks to a stunning 94th-minute goal from Marcano.
Right there with you Mad. Losing Shae changed the whole season. One player shouldn't make that much difference but she did. They really like to press up and she burned them on that. Class and UNC really don't go together. Some team with scorers will beat them along the way.I’m still upset with how the selection committee treated our Lady Vols. They won’t put a conference matchup in the first round, I’m assuming it’s because it avoids a rematch of two teams that had already met, I don’t know. Doesn’t matter now, but there was no reason Tennessee should have to play the highest ranked RPI at large team in the field and a team they already met in the regular season.
Another thing that upset me was how classless some of the Tar Heel players were at the end of the match. They were mocking the bunny dance of Shae O’Rourke. For those of you that don’t know, Shae picked up the nickname of a former Vol “Bunny Shaw”. Anyways, after the final whistle, you had emotional Tennessee players experiencing the end of a great season and an end to college careers. UNC was lucky Shae didn’t play. Celebrate and stay classy, it seemed very hurtful imo.
No matter what, this was such a fun season following this team. They were a wonderful group and have taken the Lady Vols to places it’s never been in school’s history. I’d say this has been my favorite squad in all the years I’ve been a fan.
Wish all the seniors a great future, they will be missed.
This team is going to be incredible next years. With the players coming back. The players coming back from injuries. The incoming class. They will be fun to watch.
Looking forward to having her next year. People forget that she was in the weekly running for college player of the year. To lose her was a big loss. Next year we will have so many scorers. Including Shae. Someone that was on the same level, Kylee Simmons, the transfer from Missouri, was injured preseason. Other promising strikers were injured as well. Plus the dynamic and threat of the other striker like Runyon, Robinson, Stott, Mattern and others changes with Shae and Simmons on the field and we will become less predictable. Plus we have the number 1 player who is a striker, Ayva Jordan coming in next year along with Jayla Blue, all time scoring record at Bearden. Oh and Claire DeCook, with incredible speed is a baller. Next years class is loaded.Right there with you Mad. Losing Shae changed the whole season. One player shouldn't make that much difference but she did.
