Earlier this morning some posters mentioned Heupel not being himself, seeming down.

Been thinking about that some this morning. I've read here that Banks wasn't really his first choice but what kind of forced on him. It's been rumored Heupel has been instructed he needs to cut some bait on staff.

Could it be that he's upset he's being forced to shed some staff here rather keep and resents the fact he kind of got stuck with Banks?

I'm not trying to invent scenarios but I could see that weighing heavy on him.

Having a AD telling you what to do with your staff is never a good thing and is usually the beginning of the end. I sincerely hope that isn't the case. As much as I want Banks gone, I want it to be Heupel’s decision.

what's crazy to me about the Boo situation is how does his baggage not follow him.

How do schools not call Tennessee and check what kind of teammate he was or background checks, etc.

They all just see the potential and think they can fix it. Willing to be blind and try.

Some doors will be closed for him. When you don’t show for practice, and you don’t turn it on for games, it creates too many questions. Supreme talent but low effort won’t get you far.

I blame ESPN for what college football fandom has become. It's win every game or you're "mid". Meanwhile, the entire landscape is constantly changing and these half-assed "fans", who couldn't tell you who Casey Clausen is, started popping up around 2022 and began demanding the world of Heupel. The guy has done an incredible job of providing stability to one of the most unstable football programs of all time. Even more impressively is doing it while dealing with super harsh NCAA sanctions (if you want to argue with me about it, I got the list ready to go), and in a sport where the rules change literally every year. Navigating all of this and still producing on the field has been nothing short of incredible.

If you still aren't impressed by what Heupel has accomplished here while navigating new obstacles every year... just ask yourself...

How is two-time national champion, Dabo Swinney handling it?

How about one of the greatest recruiters of all time, Mario Cristobal? How's he doing?

What about Steve Sarkesian and his $40 million roster? How's he doing?

What about 6 time Super Bowl champion, bill belichick? Is he handling the changes well?

Heupel has had a lot more obstacles to overcome than all of these guys, but I bet in a head to head, Heupel's team could find a way to beat all of them

I don't know if Heupel has it in him to actually let staff go and replace them with better coaches. But he needs to. He's not in trouble yet, but the inability to adjust his staff, if that is the case, could cost him his job in the future. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. He has to do what's best for the team.

He is not a difference maker. i have never liked Turrentine so he may be a small upgrade there. I would rather have farooq over him though. What did Thomas do last year that impressed you. He could have been an upgrade at NB but only bc Boo quit trying. I don’t think that he is a stud NB.
