Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

22 games, 64 combined tackles, 7.5 TFLs 1 INT, 3 PDs, and 3 FFs

Farooq has played in 23 games, 13 were last year just doing special teams.

So just looking at his 10 games this season
57 combined tackles, 1 TFL, 1 INT, 2 PDs, 1 FR, 3 FFs and 1 IntTD

All the Boo hype is purely speculation/eye test cause from a production standpoint he hasn't proven a damn thing.

I blame ESPN for what college football fandom has become. It's win every game or you're "mid". Meanwhile, the entire landscape is constantly changing and these half-assed "fans", who couldn't tell you who Casey Clausen is, started popping up around 2022 and began demanding the world of Heupel. The guy has done an incredible job of providing stability to one of the most unstable football programs of all time. Even more impressively is doing it while dealing with super harsh NCAA sanctions (if you want to argue with me about it, I got the list ready to go), and in a sport where the rules change literally every year. Navigating all of this and still producing on the field has been nothing short of incredible.

If you still aren't impressed by what Heupel has accomplished here while navigating new obstacles every year... just ask yourself...

How is two-time national champion, Dabo Swinney handling it?

How about one of the greatest recruiters of all time, Mario Cristobal? How's he doing?

What about Steve Sarkesian and his $40 million roster? How's he doing?

What about 6 time Super Bowl champion, bill belichick? Is he handling the changes well?

Heupel has had a lot more obstacles to overcome than all of these guys, but I bet in a head to head, Heupel's team could find a way to beat all of them
Truer word have never been spoken. You're probably gonna get roasted. The loudest fans are the least knowledgeable and least informed.

His immaturity had a negative impact on the team. I hope he struggles. If he gets welcomed onto a new team he will continue to do the same thing. Im not hoping he ends up working at a gas station but he needs to learn what a commitment is if he wants to play a team game. People are counting on him and he was selfish and obviously caused issues internally.
Nico 2.0

Heupel needs better judgement in recruiting. It’s not like Nico and Boo’s families were surprises once they got to campus. Hopefully he’s learned a lesson.
My understanding.... Heup signs off yes. But Spyre has handled most all negotiations. @Ericvol2096 correct?

Also, Josh is big on relationships. He recruited Boo I believe from a young age. lessons learned but lets not forget at one point pur fanbase was saying, 'Josh needs to forsake culture for talent.'

Cant always have it both ways. if kids don't want to be here, they don't want to be here.

maybe you can shed some more light here

He is better than any of the safeties we have currently
He is not a difference maker. i have never liked Turrentine so he may be a small upgrade there. I would rather have farooq over him though. What did Thomas do last year that impressed you. He could have been an upgrade at NB but only bc Boo quit trying. I don’t think that he is a stud NB.

Not sure if that's true...I believe the Nico family changed up after Nico was starting and the tampering likely started.

Boo I believe got a new handler between last year and this year and that's when things got rocky.

People upset over Boo need to get over it. coaches have to take chances on elite level talent. I am more disappointed in our scouting. We miss on a high number of guys.

Everyone act like this is new, the only new part is the level of money involved and how tampering is basically legal now.
The supremely talented individuals that have character issues and surround themselves with bad characters (including family) is a tale as old as time. It’s a necessary risk that every coach takes and they all think they can manage them (some work out and some don’t), again, not a new thing.
(Btw, this isn’t directed at you, it’s just the latest post in the conversation)

This. Elite talent having character issues isn’t a new thing or something you can fully avoid, just limit as much as possible.

So. Boo has a boo-boo?
Yep, and he needs to buy her some clothes. Poor thing constantly posting pictures of herself wearing skimpy panties. It must be a cry for help. We should have started a go fund me for her way back when. On second thought, maybe she was trying to show us her boo o_O o_O o_O o_O o_O
