Defense will be the biggest portal need. Secondary and DL. If/when Merk goes, we'll need a QB. OL could end up a need depending on who stays and who goes. Unexpected losses could lead to more needs. WR should be good. RB should be good. TE depends on if we lose anyone. LBs should be good. But the known portal needs atm will be secondary, DL, and most likely a QB.

How is two-time national champion, Dabo Swinney handling it?

How about one of the greatest recruiters of all time, Mario Cristobal? How's he doing?

What about Steve Sarkesian and his $40 million roster? How's he doing?

What about 6 time Super Bowl champion, bill belichick? Is he handling the changes well?

Heupel has had a lot more obstacles to overcome than all of these guys, but I bet in a head to head, Heupel's team could find a way to beat all of them

You don’t get the point. They were booing and complaining with the effort. They were sitting in their butts like a country club because it was New Mexico. Same thing the players were doing.

The bottom line, he fleeced the NIL program while he was here. Yes, I’ll be watching what he and those around him can rake in off this stupid and misguided young man going forward. He (?) learned nothing from the Nico situation. Calls and texts have been in front of this from the beginning. Good riddance.

Man, if we part ways with Heupel it'd be akin to the Titans & Vrabel. He'll go somewhere and continue to win, and we will likely be back in the cellar. 1 down season is nothing. The guy wins games and has established a culture of winning.

I got my oldest a music box that plays it. Darn near cried seeing her get so excited when we opened it. She used to make me play it every night, then made me dance with her every night before bed.

I'm not saying that we'd fire him

But going 7-5 with this team would be a failure and he would indeed be on the hot seat next year. I think we could still be great after a disastrous 7-5 season, but we will....be in weary waters.

She will always remember that.
I can still hear my mother softly singing it in my memory.

He won't face the hot seat until probation is over. Probation doesn't end until summer of 2028.

I’m not fooled by anything. But I also know that enough heat can bring a man down. Assuming we do go 7-5 this year, it will be followed by a year where our schedule is much harder AND we’re probably in a much worse position in terms of depth and athleticism in key positions, most notably the QB. That doesn’t bode well for a good showing next year either. So yes, the temperature will most certainly increase, regardless of probation.

No, we can't go 7-5. We go 7-5 and we probably have to make the playoffs in 2026, especially if there are 16 teams. Heupel cant survive not making the playoffs for multiple seasons until probation is over.

I think we will be fine, because this is the only season where we have mind numbingly shot ourselves in the foot at this and been completely incapable of playing complimentary football at the level we are seeing right now. I don't think that will just become the norm. If it does the next two weeks we are maybe screwed.
