If Shane Beamer doesn’t lose his job after that..

Riding the coattails of his mediocre father who himself road the coattails of Michael Vick.

Virginia Tech is not, was not, and never will be a football power. Finally the Beamer 'name' will fade as it should, and we will never again have to hear about 'Beamer Ball', which was nothing more than emphasizing defense and special teams, much like General Neyland perfected decades before Beamer copied it.

Frank was a fraud

Yall just like firing people. Fire him for being up by too many against a team he had no business being up on and on the road?
Literally the biggest collapse… you cannot lose that game as a coach in the SEC when you are up that much … literally all they needed was a field goal in the 2nd half

Anyone notice the terrible clock management before halftime? They probably should’ve scored another touchdown. They ran the ball with less than 30 seconds left, then Beamer let a good 6 more seconds run off the clock before calling a timeout. They ended up kicking a field goal with 8 seconds left on second down from inside the five yard line.

I grew up in Roanoke and VPI as everyone called them then (60s/70s)was covered more in basketball than football. Vick put them on the national scene, but be honest, in the Big East where these wins were achieved, Miami was the big dog, and were VPI’s “Daddy”.

Frank was a fraud

Careful. The “Beamer Ball” fanbois are in full force today. It’s amazing to me that their love of that fraud will move them to ad hominem attacks so quickly.

Tech was built on a milquetoast schedule and Michael Vick. Deal with it.

“Beamer Ball” was described in The Maxims decades before turkey neck injury ever walked the sidelines.

The best meme from the last 20 years was Frank Beamer lifting his arms in victory to take a terrible Wake Forest to OT in a 0-0 game...and then Shane recreated with his fake punt TD to make it 38-7 UT in that game at Neyland....two loser coaches cut from the same loser DNA

Goiter man and theater kid are never going to be coaching again thank God

They are stuck with him. They were hoping VT would hire him away.
I think we need to look around and realize that everybody is stuck.

When "Lane Kiffen" is the Final Jeopardy Answer, and every contestant is wagering all their money--and the next 10 years worth ... what could possibly be the question?

The foundation of the sport that allowed and rewarded meritocracy in the building of a program and the development of players into NFL picks over a 4-5 year span has been destroyed. It has become a game where chance, the roll of the dice, has too much impact on outcomes: injuries, referee calls at key moments in key games, a coordinator guessing right on a blitz or screen play, calling a "crazy Ivan left" and getting lucky. Building enough depth and flexibility into a team for one season has become a Wall Street creative financing exercise. The game on the field is just the weekly update on the stockholders report.

The intermediate goals that are psychologically necessary for human achievement over time have been removed. There's no longer a ramp to the top--a Division championship, then a Conference championship, gained recognition, and finally earning an invitation to a championship bowl game. Today, there's only In or Out. Better luck next year.

The "Help Wanted" signs outside college athletic departments today read,
We are only interviewing lightening-in-a-bottle catchers
with access to deeper-than-deep pockets.
Football program architects and careful team builders need not apply.

All we needed was a second half FG vs Georgia after being up 14 at home. Should we fire Heupel?

The "powers"that be has decided that Beamer should stay and that Texass xhould be ranked way ahead of Tennessee ,even they also have three losses and were waxed by Georgia.Texass money to the sportswriters and others.

Shane Beamer has one of the worst cases of Foot in Mouth disease I've ever seen.

Apparently he was bumping his gums at halftime about the score...

"Just making plays ... We're not surprised," Beamer said to ESPN after the first quarter. "We beat this team by 24 points last year ... Our guys didn't come in here just to compete."

Shane, bless your heart...you made the mistake of (bad pun incoming) counting those chickens before they hatched.

And then in one final sign that his mouth and brain are often not on the same page, he actually defended those comments after the game.

This guy is a series of sports memes that write themselves. Comedy gold.

More, please.

Frank was far from mediocre. VPI had far more sustained success under him than anyone before or since.

What's funny is no one ever remembers if we hadn't got upset against Arky late, Tennessee at 11-1 would've made the BCS NC game vs FSU over an undefeated VT team.

That's how weak and awful their schedule was that year, and they still needed help to win a few games
Good thing we never needed any breaks to win games in our best year in memory.

They had a pretty good basketball coach in the 70's named DeVoe.
