Not totally sure why you even entertain Heupel being that thin skinnedIf Heup thinks the Cajuns would be any easier on him then he’s in for a rude awakening!!!! And, if he’s as thin skinned as described above then thanks for being here and stabilizing our team but don’t let the door hit you on the way out! So yes I could imagine him leaving and will be fine with it! He’s got two years here to get his staff upgraded or he will be fired anyway. My personal take is he’s a petty sissy and needed a tough guy like Golesh to balance out the discipline at the staff and player level. It’s obvious!
He deserves any of the valid criticisms he has received this far!!!! He doesn’t deserve the irrational hostility some clowns have done though!
Phillips is wrong about TN fans not giving Heupel credit though!
I took that as a joke.Right. Because there is no good food in NYC, Boston, or Chicago.
Some of y'all need to leave your homogenous little "safe" places more and experience other things. There is a lot more good food out there than BBQ and meat n threes.
I agree. Unless they have some sort of smoking gun on Kelly, not paying him is as bad a look as can be. If a buyout becomes a “maybe, maybe not” then what reputable coach would be enticed knowing they may or may not be paid.No logical coach is considering LSU job rn when they are trying to stiff the coach they just fired.
They are about to get a Billy Napier-type hire.
I think you guys put too much weight on what coaches think of message board talk or fans’ opinions, in general.
I took that as a joke.
Urban centers where a lot of people have migrated obviously have great food, but you try living in a small town up north. They don't even know what salt is up here.![]()
Kinda like the way Tennessee wasn’t as great of a job for 15 years due to administrative dysfunction, but is now a fantastic job (again).LSU could be a top five job in the nation. They need to take care of a lot first though. Anyone saying it’s a better job than Tennessee right now is out of their damned minds. This isn’t homer talk, I didn’t misspeak. Auburn right now is a better job than LSU.
Now I believe LSU does get it right eventually and it’s a great job but most legit major program coaches aren’t looking at that job due to the problems surrounding it.
And you know this how? Unless you are more connected than I think you are, you know as much as I do about what they will or won’t do at LSU.There’s an absolutely ZERO chance that the LSU donors, boosters, Alumni and fans would allow the hire of CJH.
CJH and his agent are trying to squeeze another extension and raise out of the University of Tennessee.
To Lane Kiffin’s point, it’s about the money, current roster and brand. Our program is way above top half in CFB—just under those programs with Michigan, FL, Clemson, PSU, and FSU. That’s based on the recent performances in combo with the past quarter century of performance. TN and FSU would be at the bottom of that list based on those attributes, since we haven’t won an NC since 98 and hadn’t had a 10 win season since early 2000s. Our coaching choices and frugality hurt us big time. Anyways, that’s not bad company. If Tennessee wants to stay relative, they keep Huepel who is an emerging coach in the conversation at big time programs (or at least one of them), or they let him go by not giving him a raise and pay the money to a big time coach like Kiffin.I’m @ lunch listening to 104.5 zone as they interview Chris Phillips and the LSU job. He said there are rumors that Heup is on the LSU list and LSU is on Heup’s short list of other college jobs.
He then stated TN fans don’t give Heup the credit he deserves, instead complaining about not making playoffs. And, TN is not a perennial playoff team yet a 3-4 loss team.
When asked he said TN is not a top six destination for head coaches. He said we would fall in top half. He also said he wouldn’t include Florida and unsure about aTm.
Surely Heup won’t get an offer but he was correct about Napier and Kelley, too, losing his job and the fact LSU trying to find just cause. He said Heup would listen to LSU.
I don’t see it but I am blinded by orange glasses- esp. when he said LSU is top six job - not TN.
Ohio state, Bama, UGA, LSU, Texas, USC, Oregon, and I think Notre Dame were his top coaching destinations.
Thoughts?
Edit- I listened to the interview again. Phillips said he’s heard Heup would entertain leaving TN and definitely listen to LSU. Plus, LSU admin is confident Heup would leave TN for LSU if offered the job. The outside noise by the minority of our fan base is annoying as apparently Heup hears the. Could you imagine him leaving for LSU and taking Brandon Faizon w/ him?
And you know this how? Unless you are more connected than I think you are, you know as much as I do about what they will or won’t do at LSU.

While I do think Huepel has done a great job, he has also missed the mark in year 5 and be fitted from a soft schedule last year. He has GOT to do better and make some tough decisions, or he will hover around the 8-9 win column as this league has gotten tougher.
Still, I agree that some of our fans are embarrassing and should be suppressed. Unfortunately technology has given anyone who wants one a voice that doesn’t represent the level-headed.
My point is, you don’t know. Kelly got fired not just because of record, but also the fact he did not mesh there and he had quit on them. There are not any undefeated coaches in Div 1 who are going to LSU. Whoever they get will have a loss or two on his record. I am not saying they want our coach, but it could happen more easily than you think.Yeah LSU is going to hire a coach that’s 6-3 this season and choked away 2 home games against Georgia and Oklahoma.
They just fired Kelly with a record of 34-14 and are going to hire CJH with a record of 36-12 over the same time period?
The media that started the noise would be to blame, if Herbstreit makes this a reality he’s a marked man in my book of the most hated hatred ever.. I don’t think Tennesse fans have had much noise we just want better defense and this led this narrative.. anyways we shall seeThe NegaVols would be to blame. I hate all NegaVols.
Do you have any proof he is not? Do you have any proof Kiffin is?Like I said, Hype is not being pursued in LSU's coaching search.
He'll sit tight, right here with Danny White.
