I freaking hate that portion of our fanbase...straight up HATE...them...and I never said I would cheer for him somewhere else so don't twist what I said...I said "I wouldn't blame him".I would. You act like we're the only fanbase with crazy fans. We're not. Every coach faces criticism from their fanbase. Even championship coaches. You think Ryan Day and Kirby Smart don't face criticism from portions of their fanbase? Even Saban had his lunatic fringe fans that criticized every call he made. It's not unique to Tennessee. Every coach faces it.
College coaches are mercenaries. They come and they go. I like Heupel, and I hope he stays, but I'm a Vol for life. Whether he's the coach or not, I'll always cheer for the Vols to WIN. After going through Dooley and Butch and he whose name I will not say, it's very easy for me to separate coach from team. I'll cheer for Heupel for as long as he's OUR coach. If he's not OUR coach, then I have no reason to cheer for him.
Let’s all be honest here… If Josh is the guy to win a championship at Tennessee, he should be wanting to make those changes himself and not be pushed into them.
Im not sure if the reason is related to his son playing at Baylor in Chattanooga. I know he has been to many practices and games there. Likely couldn't be as involved there if he were still holding the Co-DC role.Muschamp is in the SEC now at Georgia, has been since USCJr. fired him. Although he stepped back in 2024 to be a defensive analyst instead of co-DC. Not sure why.
I agree to an extent. Going from the top to the bottom in one year isn't healthy. Could you imagine a Bama or UGA defense with a swing that extreme? I can't. From top to mid? Sure.maybe he is smart enough to remember that we had a top 5 defense LAST ******* YEAR and doesn't see the need to burn his staff to the ground.
Every coach with choices should go to the ACC. Big 12 2nd. Easiest path the playoff by far. The sec and the big 10 to a lesser extent is a much harder path. Even at the top, the acc and big 10 aren't great. If I'm Franklin I'd probably be looking for Big 12 or ACC gigs where he could potentially be the best team every year in those conferences. Dude got fired for 3-3 as a 70% winner at Penn State. Another SEC or BIG 10 job might put him right back in the same sort of pressure cooker.
Coach O is just Sam Pittman retread...not sure why Arkansas would wanna go that route. But they also might be stuck having to go that route...
One name we haven't heard yet but I could see for the Hogs emerging is Jason Garrett. If Jerry has any pull, and before folks say "he doesn't wanna coach college" he was the rumored frontrunner for Duke before they hired Elko.
No...I can't imagine that, but I also recognize that we don't have near the roster depth they do yet, especially on defense.I agree to an extent. Going from the top to the bottom in one year isn't healthy. Could you imagine a Bama or UGA defense with a swing that extreme? I can't. From top to mid? Sure.
If he went to Flo-Rid-A, I could see Golesh to Ole MissInteresting comment by an Ole Miss mod on Kiffin's potential exit to Florida. He is either stringing them along rather convincingly or there's serious mutual interest. Either way I think Ole Miss will be fine. Lane's made that a pretty attractive SEC job. If UF misses on Kiffin, who's next?
"If he doesn't go to Florida, the egg-on-face with high-level Florida people will be even more immense than you all realize. You'll be able to laugh for months, and I will give specifics either way when I get more confirmation and can fire away."
Not disputing what you heard but a different source I read said that YTTV was upset that Disney was forcing all of their non sports channels into one bundle Deal. IE…YTTV/Google really wants to dump some of Disney Channel, Nat Geo, Freeform, Disney XD, Disney Junior, etc… and Disney is saying you must take our stinky Bundle and pay us more….Disney lost 13 Billion in market cap today after missing earnings predicitions driven largely by a loss of ad revenue on conventional platforms with the pivot towards streaming. Sort of puts a couple of things that have occurred recently in perspective like this desperate push to move YTTV viewers to Disney platforms. I will never pay Disney more than I already do via YTTV. I get that will continue to go up, but I'm not giving a dime directly to Disney.
Another thing occurred to me after it was said the sticking point on this YTTV/Disney carriage dispute is ABC and not ESPN. Some Saturdays ABC has 3 CFB games and those games are usually among the most watched. We have remotes ect. but most people would rather not change the channel if the next game looks interesting. Plus the SEC just gets silly ratings anyway. Disney is trying to maximize the ridiculous value of SEC media rights currently, because they do not expect to be in a position to win them again when it comes time to renegotiate. And the next deal will be HUGE.
