Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

You’re arguing with ignorance , just like me.

Indiana lost to Ohio st by 23 last year and a month later UT lost to the same team by 25.
Indiana is better this year and UT is worse but in Rickberry’s mind UT is much better because they are in the mighty SEC
Yeah....UT's offense is better, defense is a lot worse. Last year's game would've been more competitive had we had better QB play but I think Ohio St still would win. Chip Kelly put up a clinic on Tim Banks.

Pre NIL era SEC dominated College Football. Now the Big Ten has closed the gap in this NIL era...

Would Indiana be a bottom feeder in SEC? No way in hell just like Mississippi State wouldn't be challenging for Big Ten Championship.. good grief.

When we beat Arkansas by 3
Points at home and people in here were spewing SEC is tough from top to bottom. Well that bottom feeder Arkansas lost to Memphis and got the **** kicked out of them at home by the team everyone loves to hate. Notre Dame ... The game wasnt even close .....

I def get it but both those games were before they fired Pittman...They've looked much better offensively since Petrino took over. They were competitive against A&M most of the game and almost beat them. Night and day difference between how they're playing now vs earlier in the year. They're defense still sucks though.

I wouldn't pick us to beat Indiana, that's for sure.

We would

muff a punt

throw a pick

fumble

bust a coverage

miss a tackle

miss a field goal

and lose, somehow someway this year.

I do think Arkansas isn't that bad though. They're better than mid pack to bottom feeder Big Ten. They still almost beat us and A&M.

The gap isn't wide anywhere, period. But him saying everyone in the BIG sucks or the best G5 team sucks is dumb to me.

Its a problem in sports where people just argue that everyone sucks lol.

Kinda crazy to take a step back and look at Indiana... so if they are as good as advertised, how in the heck are they pulling this off with the recruiting classes they've had over the past 4 years? Folks looked at ohst and TN last season in the playoff and said the talent gap and NIL money spent was a big reason for the outcome...

Many say you have to have a consistent top 5 class to compete for championships... this math doesn't add up for teams like Indy... Are they just getting coached and developed at a much higher level than other teams? If so, Cig should be the most wanted man in the country...

Then you can look at us and see we have three times the talent via recruiting services than Indy, but are having trouble all over the field making mistakes, poor tackling and mechanics, penalties, etc, and should have two more W's at this point. Sure we play in a tougher conference and have much more difficult matchups on a weekly basis, but if Indy is that good, then by the math/reasoning some are using, they should dominate our conference as well with half the overall talent...

Guess we'll see soon enough if Cig is pulling this off or if they are a paper tiger and get exposed right out of the gate...

Big ten is down this year
Indiana is benefiting from it

Indiana barely beat a down trotten PSU team, should’ve lost to Iowa
They dodge osu

They did win at Oregon
That team is t up to the top standards they usually are but will be back next year

Tennessee would have same record if not better if they played that schedule

Seeing a lot of smoke on twitter about Arkansas trying to reel in a big fish for its coaching job. Any idea who that rumor is about?

They’re not gonna win a NC this year. But they are miles better than they used to be and Cig is one of the most wanted coaches in football.

How could we do better than undefeated?

Yeah I think most have Ohio St as favorites (there are also some out there that think Alabama) to win but they really haven't played anyone tough so hard to tell how they'll be come playoff time. Their defense is legit though.

On November 13, 1875,

Uniwatch was started............

Yale and Harvard wore the first team uniforms in an American intercollegiate football game. This represented a significant departure from custom at a time when team mates typically took to the field dressed in mismatched gear. Then a hodgepodge of soccer and rugby rules, early foot ball took inspiration for its attire from the first American rugby uniforms. These consisted of long trousers tied at the ankles, a jersey, and a toque or a brimless close-fitting hat. The long trousers evolved to knee breeches or pants that fit more tightly to the skin, and at that first Harvard-Yale match, Yale wore dark pants, blue jerseys, and yellow hats while Harvard sported crimson knee breeches, shirts, and stockings.

Played at Hamilton Park in New Haven, the match was also the first time these schools met in what has become an annual rivalry. Yale guaranteed Harvard $75 to play and with tickets selling for 50¢ each 2,000 spectators filled the park. Following modified rugby rules, each team fielded 15 men. Harvard won 4-0 amid the endless protests of the players, spectators, and officials over the rules. Harvard and Yale agreed to play the next year’s game under the Rugby Union rules, and by 1876 Princeton, Harvard, Yale, and Columbia had organized the Intercollegiate Football Association.

I don’t agree with his take on Indiana, they are very good. And they would be pretty good in the SEC. But likely a 9-10 win team.

Ohio state was a different team in the playoff last year. They went to another level. Comparing scores is not the same from when we played them. They lost to Oregon in the season and demolished them in the playoffs.

Yeah no one was beating the playoff version of that Ohio St. team last year. They were dialed in after that Michigan loss. Their playoff game against Texas was the only one that was semi competitive.

I agree Indiana probably won't win National Championship but those saying that Indiana would be in the slum bottom of SEC with Kentucky is a weird statement...

It's the same offense. The offense was playing well. The exact same people are running the offense.

Pure cope. Or they haven’t watched and think this is the same Indiana team as last year. They are legit.

I disagree, the offense is executing better and the playcalling is better. Whether that's because Petrino has full control or not, idk but the offense has def been playing better.

I didn't say the offense wasn't playing better. I said the exact same people are running it. Petrino had full control of the offense. He was calling plays.
