What is gained by stringing along the story about players with major injuries like Jerrod McCoy and Ricky Gibson III suggesting week after week they might come back this season? If Heupel is saying this publicly that’s what he’s telling the team too. Seems to me that isn’t good for team cohesiveness any way you cut it.

Just say out indefinitely, most likely for the season and call it a day. If it’s gamesmanship, I’m sorry - I see absolutely no benefit.

Health care laws state it's up to the individual to say what's up with their health. Josh straddles the line of honoring that law, giving what information he can and not putting pressure on the athlete to try to come back too soon or feel like the coaches are not happy with their progress but at the same time, answer people's questions.

I could be wrong, but I thought that it was announced that Gibson would be out the rest of the season shortly after he sustained his injury. Also, there were reports that McCoy was making progress and would likely return, but he had setbacks. I’m not sure why they haven’t officially ruled him out for the rest of the season.

What's it hurting? Why do you deserve to know more than what you're being told?

Huepel has clearly indicated Ricky Gibson is out 'for an extended period of time' and there has been no discussions on his return.
McCoy is actively trying to make a return. He is practicing with team since fall camp, started doing team drills a few weeks ago. Injuries are not all same and take different time to heal and then there is getting back in 'playing mode'. Huepel has never said anything about McCoy coming back. He has indeed said it is unfair to put a timetable on McCoy and let him work it out. So stop spreading false rumors and respect a kid who has stuck with the team despite injuries and is trying his best to comeback.

I think Heuepel has always done it that way. I remember when Cooper Mays (I think that's who it was) was out and every week Heupel said he was expected to play the following week, but never did.

It is what it is.

Hippa is only concerned with medical personnel who have access to that information and to whom they can disclose it. Not for laymen who may have information. Nobody is coming after someone who discusses another individual. Doesn’t mean that someone in supervisory role in someone’s life should pass along information Willy nilly.

Absolutely right. Heupel owes us a full explanation. (blue font thingy).

You are not entitled to more information that what is given out. Nor is anyone else. Get over it. There are laws to deal with and there's just the coach telling people it ain't yer bidness. Because it ain't yer bidness. What, is it hindering your betting on the Vols if you don't know this info?
... Until gambling became cool, and NiL.
You're wrong.

... Not the same. This poster, did not cash mad checks from the U of T...
Nobody was strung along. First week plus after injury is evaluation, diagnosis and plan. And you never know how bad an injury is until you get in and see the damage. JH didn’t say he was coming back and he was listed as Out every week. Or maybe look and see him in a sling in November and figure it out
