I did a drive-by of several of the SEC games on SEC plus last night.

Watched a bit of Vandy and Furman. Furman is pretty god-awful and Vandy romped. The breakout of Justine continues. She started, played 28 minutes and had 13 points, three or four rebounds and six assists. Finally, and just in the nick of time since this is her last year of eligibility. I was quite impressed with Jada Brown for Vandy.

Auburn, Georgia, and Alabama were indistinguishable from ea other and not impressive. They made me amazed and grateful for the LV fans who have stayed so faithful for so long. Those three teams’ attendance combined would not fill up one section of TBA.

Team that was impressive was Florida. They are athletic and skilled. And most of what I watched was without McGill who was in foul trouble. they are going to be tough to handle. Watch out for the Gators

South Carolina is going to be very vulnerable if you can get them in any kind of foul trouble. After Okot they drop off drastically in the post. Also no depth on the perimeter right now. Gotta find a way to force them into a couple bad fouls and anyone can make it a game with them.

The players they do have available are excellent. Just pretty thin this year.

Low energy performance so far for the Gamecocks.
SC will be fine.
Again it just shows how many posters on this board are putting too much emphasis on the start of the season.
I would say SC doesn’t look any better against Clemson than Tennessee did against UT Martin.

And that’s one of the major differences in watching Tennessee and other teams.
You watch games and teams are allowed to play defense and be aggressive. South Carolina is making contact similar to TN defenders that is always called a foul. I don’t get how officials allow some teams to play defense and call other teams for fouls when they make the same contact.

If Coach Caldwell and her staff changes the full court press system and mass substitution pattern I think it’ll make the LVs 10 points better on both sides of the court.

I think they’re still middle of the pack in the ACC. They look better, but are still really thin as far as talent goes. They’re two fouls away from being a mid-major.

That’s a good looking Tennessee Tech team right there, very well coached and disciplined. They were very good last season with a conference championship and 26 wins.

Kim really beefed up the low end of our schedule and I like it. Added lots of really tough mid-major teams who will go on to success which is really good for our NET. Should also give a clearer picture of where we are. We played some really, really bad teams last season.

Some we had commitments too already and couldn’t get out of and a couple teams dropped us and we had to add a couple atrocious teams.

Missouri won their game against Arkansas State last night, by 22 points, 97-75. I have watched all 3 MIZZOU games, and after the first one, I said here, that they had 3 good players. Out of 13 players, 4 are out (one for the year), with injuries. Now, of the 9 players playing, one has barely played, so for 8 players, I can say I am not disappointed to see any one of them on the court. They have all shown much improvement from the first game, these players played as a Team last night. The game was great fun to watch. 🙂

My poor Colorado girls couldn’t hang on against Louisville.

Been the theme of JR Payne’s tenure. She does a really nice job coaching up inferior talent but her teams just can’t ever seem to put away a ranked opponent. Might lead for 38 minutes but just don’t have the gas to finish it out.
