Republicans will never “work on a new healthcare plan”. They will only fight what the Dems propose to maintain the status quo.
The ACA’s purpose was to be a bridge from a multi-payor system to a single-payor system. Again, fought, neutered, and rendered impotent by Republicans at every turn without any alternatives. We all know why, some just don’t want to admit it.Where's the Dem proposal to replace or fix the ACA? Even most Dems agree that it isn't working.

Republicans at every turn without any alternatives
I don't agree with that but if that's what the Dems want then present the plan and let's debate itIf it was fostered the way it was designed to, we’d have universal healthcare by now.

My plan would be involve the ability for people to buy into Medicare and HSAs available for everyone just like IRAs are. I'd also push for coverage across state lines
I don’t know what the alternative would be, but Republicans have continued to deconstruct it without any alternative for years. Can you find any federal-level conservative that has proposed a comprehensive alternative since 2010?It was just a scam and they hoped turn it into a bigger scam. Now everyone wants to just replace the original scam with a new scam.
What would an "alternative" accomplish? And how would it be accomplished?
It was fought, neutered and rendered impotent by Republicans because they didn't agree with the law. That's politics. Republicans were powerless to do anything about it in 2010 but when they regained some power they used it to neuter a law they didn't like. "Higher education isn't what it used to be" .... Absent of any context at all, that is an empty statement.Higher education isn’t what it used to be and the once prestigious universities are no longer thought to automatically produce the brightest. That’s for any college or university nowadays. It’ll only get worse.
I give him credit for thinking outside of the box at times. It means he has some ideas that are major hits and others are major misses
I'm not sure what goes into that number but the entire healthcare industry amounts to about $5T/year , equaling $15K/person. Medicare spends about $18K per beneficiary but these are elderly people who need a tremendous amount of care. The off the book liabilities on medicare alone is somewhere in the $70-100T range.
