New York City

Good post except for that last sentence.
The left has a vested interest in public education succeeding.
The right evidently has a vested interest in public education failing.
I know which I prefer.
As a proud product of the Tennessee Public education system; I wish with all my heart for public education to succeed
Of course when I was in the system in the 80‘s, I was being taught math, world history, civics, science, chemistry, physics, grammar, and perhaps most importantly, the ability to think critically and express myself coherently and succinctly in writing.
There was no time wasted on indoctrination in queer theory, drag queens, anticolonialistic theory, or DEI brainwashing.
A return to a classical education and basic life skills would do wonders for society.
It should tell you everyone need to know that even though we continue to pump more and more resources into „public education“ today, the results of what our children actually learn continues to drop further and further.
How would you define the success you wish for?

The “no child left behind”, common core, dumbing down standards, etc is the looney lefts idea of “succeeding.”

So far you're the only one to say you're good with it.
Why not? Don't be a closed minded bigot. Per Luther “Turns out, we absorbed their culture and it made ours even richer….imagine that…if you can”

Why stop at stoning and suicide vest? Oh, common sense kicked in for you. Thanks for playing.

If you look waaay up you may be able to make out the point flying far over your head.

yes I'd mentioned that.

Did the socialist actions you described earlier happen in the UK when it was socialist? I don't recall any of it coming up in conversation with my old British colleagues.
What years are you defining as British socialism?
All I know for sure is that in just over a century, Britain went from the world‘s predominant political and economic powerhouse to a largely irrelevant has been. If not for brief reprieves under Churchill and Thatcher, their story has been one of decline and futility.
And now it is a stabby dystopian basket case in which you can be jailed merely for criticizing government policy or flying your country‘s own flag. Heaven forbid you EVER criticize Islam 😳😳😳😳

Then there are the facts. Public education has been failing. The reading levels are abysmal. The resources are scarce or mismanaged. The morons in charge would rather indoctrinate than educate. We see the society it has created.
You're such a cliche.

Either that or how many additional administrative positions can be funded in lieu of actual classroom teachers. Today’s educational establishment is a top heavy bureaucratic clown show.

That's because you've accepted propoganda as reality.

I know it's been debated for decades, that socialist policy was introduced into curriculum, not that socialist policy is the boogeyman or something but it's been evident for some time. And in regard to the continuums you're so fond of there is a sweet spot. in the way that pure capitalism and fascism is bad so is socialism and communism. There is a sweet spot that we've gone past in our current authoritarian administration, and our current education policy has driven too far to the socialist.

We teach our children in the broad sense so as to achieve equal results when all children do not have similar aptitude. We attempt to put all children on equal footing and that isn't possible, it'd be much more beneficial to the children and society to teach them to the best of their aptitudes. Not all kids need to go to college, it's much better that we start educating them in high school for what comes next. Be that university or trade schools etc. standardized curriculum has it's place, but I think we do a disservice to high school kids in trying to ensure students meet the minimum requirements for college when many, if not most, should not attend..... And that's the current stated goal.

All students should have a year dedicated to civics, economics with a heavy emphasis on personal finances etc.
What you say has not been my experience................not even remotely.....and I've been in education 30+ years.
I'm not sure who has been propagandized.

No, I read a lot of history. I have made a special emphasis on the period between 1870 and 1918; the final sunset years of British power and hegemony.
The twilight lasted a bit longer but by 1945, leadership had passed to others. The socialists of the 60s and 70s put the body into the morgue.

It clearly wasn't a joke on your part as you were trying to convince him it wasn't a superspreader event and the second one was in response to the debate, but its still in context as you thought the mask and staying 6 feet a part would work. You thought the mask was going to stop you from getting cold, and you clearly know it sounds like a loony which is why you go to great lengths to be deceptive in your responses.

So, all the doctors, teachers, schools, experts, etc. that thought the mask would stop a cold were wrong?

(Look another Mr. Chicken joke)

Sec fans are dumb per ESPN
So this is the statement you think is proving your point?
"There are a lot of unknowns. This has the potential of being a very serious problem. Until we know more, it would be wise to take all reasonable precautions such as wearing masks, socially distancing, avoiding larger gatherings, etc.."

lol.....I'll gladly stand by that statement.
If you read that as me saying "masks will keep you from getting a cold" then we've identified the problem.
Your inability to comprehend and apply reason.

That isn't a comprehension problem, you clearly think or did think a mask is going to stop a cold.

We have identified the problem alright.

Please elaborate?
Do you contend that academic performance is NOT in demonstrable decline?
Calling someone a „cliche“ is not even an attempt at actual debate or discussion.
Test scores have certainly declined.
As has our world ranking in life expectancy. (Health care system failure?)
