There is such a small amount of Rev share allocated to the combination of BB and WBB, it’s virtually immaterial to hope for getting a bit more of the slice. The key is more thru the collective which Kim has the ability to influence thru charm, networking and winning.

Is that the way NIL money works after the House settlement? Can a coach have that much influence? What about businesses that go directly to athletes and sign deals, even while they are still in high school? I know the school controls the revenue share, but how much say do they have on NIL?

Businesses can cut deals with the athlete. Must be approved by the third party clearinghouse. Spyre can also connect the player with marketing deals. It is best done with the big time player like Edwards that is attractive to sponsors. Adidas can also participate with specific players and made some commitments as part of getting the apparel deal.

Still not clear how much say/influence a coach has. And hasn't CKC said she tries to let others handle that? Is that possible?

But thanks for the info. Did know about the clearinghouse. Will be interesting to see how much effect that has and if it holds up to pressure, legal and otherwise

I’m just saying that a supporter that is enamored by the coach or excited about the team can be influenced to do marketing deals as a way of being supportive.

Apparently that holds true even with supporters giving smaller donations. It's exactly what Kelle Harper ran into here, She could get support for star transfers through the portal much easier than for high school players. Common sense, everyone wants their money to go toward a proven quantity.

Everything is elite on Rocky Top🍊! Coach Caldwell has recruited at a level not seen in 20 months for a coach taking over the most historic WBB program of all-time.
The coaches at LSU, UConn, South Carolina, and USC in their first 20 months at a P5 program never came close to having this kind of immediate recruiting success!

As sometime that married their high school sweetheart, I expect the boyfriend may be impossible to overcome. If it were just a business decision, CKC would have her locked down.

Thought I heard back some time ago we recruited her boyfriend to play here and we would take him as a transfer. With the coaching change it could happen.

Gotta think like an early investor -- you're going to have misses, but good scouting and quantity will pay off in a quality product in the long run.

I saw someone say it’s strange to see Clemson in the Top 10 at #5. They have like 5 or 6 commits. Tennessee dominated recruiting after landing two #1 recruiting classes (High School and Transfer Portal) in 2025.
For Coach Caldwell & Lazo to be back in the Top 10 at #7 with 2 commits (quality over quantity) at the early signing period in 2026 is unheard of🍊!

If it was impossible to overcome, we would have Jazzy Davidson in Knoxville, since she’s dating a Tennessee player. Maybe she will transfer here next season to be with him.

It’s just different when you have an elite recruiter at head coach and one of the best recruiting coordinators in WBB.
Coach Caldwell will not blink. These 20 months at Tennessee she has set a standard that no other current head coach at their first P5 program has reached ever. Not LSU, South Carolina, UCLA, North Carolina, USC, UConn, LSU, etc. No one other coach has taken over a major D1 program and recruited at this level in 20 months.

If we get any of the two players were in on great if not no problem I think we'll be strong in the portal and it will again have at least 20 players that can play and be different makers. We need more post players with only two presently on the roster for that coming season and probably one of them needs to have a lot of playing experience in the power 4. 12th through the 19th we'll know where we stand really soon.
