We dropped in AP Poll! Ridiculous

Seems mostly fair, honestly. Michigan State and UNC both got signature wins that vaulted them ahead of the Vols, but I'd take issue with Gonzaga getting a bump for beating Oklahoma on a "neutral" court.

Of course, we can't have Kansas fall out of the Top 25 for a second consecutive season. That would be a bridge too far.

lol true! The polls in any sport really should be delayed a month to minimize recency bias.

It's early but it's obvious that this years SEC is nowhere near the level of lasts year. Miss St is the latest team to get crushed. Lots of big lopsided losses mixed with a few big wins in these games against real competition.
Miss State was supposed to lose that game and they did so no surprise there. So far, I think Florida is the only upset loss, right? It’s early of course. I do think a couple of close calls also stuck in your mind. Auburn and Florida likely take a step back. Arkansas is better. I do think some of the lower teams might be better. My guess is we will see more balance and a fewer top end teams.

Best game by far tonight is Kentucky-Louisville. I don’t know why it’s being played on a Tuesday in the middle of football season. That game used to be a CBS staple in late December almost every year.

Cards favored by 6.5 according to ESPN, which seems like a lot. I’d take the Cats to cover.

That seems to line up with less top end teams. We will see on the balance side as the season goes on. Arkansas was maybe a slight favorite. Florida was a slight one. A&M, might be the other one that was an upset. So, at most, 3 of the 8 with 2 of those 3 losses being toss ups. Teams from the SEC certainly did win a lot of those games last year. The only conference the SEC wasn’t good against was the Big 10. They were pretty even in h2h.

Yea I think that’s the point though, last year the Oklahoma’s and others went through OOC undefeated winning all of these matchups, that’s why the league was considered so good because even the bottom of the league was dominating other conferences.

For sure. The way the SEC dominated the ACC and Big 12 was insane. It’s early and there are plenty of opportunities for good wins in the coming weeks, but no way the SEC has the NC, 2 FF teams and 4 EE teams. In fact, I don’t think any of those will happen this year. I could maybe see 3 EE. We shall see. I do think we will be one of them. Lots of ball left though.
