Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I remember him more as the HC, when he won the NBA title with the Sonics.

Lonnie Shelton
Gus Jonson
Dennis Johnson
Jack Sikma
"Downtown" Freddie Brown..

The Supersonics vs Washington Bullets series were terrific..
Yes, I remember that team.
I don't recall the circumstances surrounding the trade, but the Celtics were fortunate to get DJ.

That open LSU job just keeps getting more and more uninviting. They are trying to get away with not paying Kelly's buyout as if they had a legal leg to stand on. They aren't even trying to claim they fired him for cause.

One of the project manager for a multifamily project we are installing all the appliances to is a big LSU fan. He is born and raised and he told me he actually went to school with Georgia AD Josh Brooks brother and he know Josh Brooks very well too. So everytime I visit this project, me and him spend mostly time together talking college football not about the project. lol

He swears up and down that LSU is going to get Josh Brooks as their AD since he is from Louisiana and he also swears up and down LSU is getting out of paying Kelly buyout. I told him he's crazy because legally they can't without cause. He thinks they are getting Kiffin as coach but I told him I don't think it will happen after their governor badmouthed agent Jimmy Sexton but he did say the Tulane coach would work at LSU too he thinks.

I’m not a BK fan and personally find him an abhorrent human. That said, I can’t fault him in the least. If you fired me, why TF would I say ā€œsure, you don’t have to pay me what the contract saysā€? That’s just dumb. And for LSU to think he should do that is even dumber.

I'm on my 3rd Lexus and love Lexus. I never ever have any service issues with all 3 I've owned. The great thing about Lexus is all their dealerships/service facilities are top knotch. Free sodas, free water, massage chairs, free internet, very clean bathrooms, free car washes and they literally treat all clients like your important.

Only down side is you have to use premium gas only which got costly up until last 6 months so now doesn't hurt so much. I've had two GX470 and now I have the smaller SUV NX 200-T turbo. I put over 150,000 miles on last two and right now have about 139.000 on my current one and I need to get ready for a newer one but since I use rental cars every week for work, I don't even drive it hardly, it just sits collecting dust. My current rental is a 2026 Dodge Ram truck called the "Rebel". Very nice and is fully loaded. Check it out too
My wife wants me to get the LX 600. I said I just spent over 80k two years ago on the Denali. And now I’m gonna go spend 115k? Sheesh! Lol

But damn they are nice and I know I could drive it easily 200k miles.

Yea the LX starts around $107,000 I think base before taxes, fees, etc easily over $115,000. But they are nice. BUt good thing with Lexus is basically it's Toyota so you know it will last a good 10-15 years if you keep it that long.

Check out the new Toyota Land Cruiser too. I saw one today and they are really beautiful too. Looks kind very similar to the Lexus LX.

That's funny. As connected as he seems to be his information doesn't seem very good! Kiffin isn't even considering LSU. It's Florida or Ole Miss. It seems like such a gulf between, "We are for sure getting Lane Kiffin," to "Actually, Sumrall would do just fine."

Yeah, I am in no way defending Brian Kelly. It's just obvious that LSU doesn't have a legal excuse for not paying him his full buyout. I guess they saw Pittman cut Arkansas a break and said, "That could be us," but Brian Kelly is no Sam Pittman.

LSU already named AD by pulling interim tag off Ausberry. So he’s already wrong.

No that's definitely winning out. We might not be in the top-25 if we finish 8-4. Borderline imo.

To finish top 12, we need to rack UF and Vandy by 40+ and many other things to fall our way. Unfortunately, our resume just doesn't help us at all.

To compare, the 2 closest 9-3 SEC teams last year to almost get in were Alabama (3 ranked wins) and Ole Miss (1 ranked win vs #3 UGA by 18 points). Our best bet is to absolutely boatrace a ~top 12-15 Vandy in the final week for 1 ranked win...and yes we all know we should have had UGA and not even discussing this šŸ˜‘šŸ˜‘šŸ˜‘šŸ˜‘
I just looked it up and our current odds to qualify for the playoffs is 3.2%. If we win out and finish up 9-3 they jump to 8%. Still a chance but I won't hold my breath. Beat Florida and Vandy both by 30 plus and get a ton of upsets and maybe get people talking. I can't really imagine what would have to happen but at least it's not 0%.

Anyone drive an SUV or truck that is 2023 or older?

Im done with GMC. I have a 2022 Yukon Denali and it’s a piece of you know what.

I’m looking at the Lexus SUVs or a Ford raptor. Didn’t know if anyone loves something.
We have a 2016 Toyota Tacoma and a 2020 4Runner. Love both.

I just traded in a 21 Nissan Titan Pro-4x that I loved. Traded it on a 2026 Honda Passport for my wife. She drove an Acura, a Lexus, and the Passport and loved the Passport. Finally found a dealer that would give me the deal I wanted and got it done this evening. I have a 25 Toyota Tundra that will become my primary vehicle now. There's a lot of good full size trucks and SUVs out there. I personally would avoid more recent GM and Rams. Loved my Titan, but they quit making them and I didn't need two trucks anymore. Tundras have an engine recall on the non-hybrids from 22 to early 24. Hard to find anything bulletproof these days but some manufacturers are much better at standing behind their products than others. If you go with Toyota, look up Jim Rouleau on Facebook. He's an auto broker that runs a page on Facebook and has the best deals...completely legit...just tell him what you want and he'll find it at a crazy good price.

She loves it. Sits up and looks more like SUVs she's had in the past but drives more like a car. Ton of room...almost full size truck width on the interior. A ton of legroom in the back. Comfortable and great features. It suited her more than the Acura and Lexus SUVs she drove...which I didn't mind since it cost less...lol. Thankfully she thought the regular Trailsport was more comfortable than the Trailsport Elite.
