Game Thread: Lady Vols v ETSU, Home, Fri. Nov 7th, 6:30PM, SECN+

Do the ladies have the rule where you can call for a review and lose a timeout if it doesn't pan out like the men do this year?

We did a much better job not giving up easy buckets off the press. People sprinted back and the bigs held their space and forced tough shots. Obviously a huge size and athleticism advantage today, but we didn’t do that all that well last season even against bad teams.

Their FG% was only 28%. We frequently allowed over 40% to bad teams last year.

Boyd is still one of our only players who can keep her player in front of her on defense. I'm not totally sure why she's dropped so far in the rotation but we could use more of her one-on-one defensive abilities.

She is a better half court defender than full court. Her man tends to get out in front of her on the press. In the last bit where we took the press off you can see what a good defender she is.

We should selectively use her on the opponents best player and run some junk defense like box and 1 on Blakes. Kaniya could give her a fit.

Aye. They scored 47, but 16 of those points were from the charity stripe. Terrible game for the Bucs from the field. They can hang their hat on keeping the rebounding battle so close, tho. Shoud've outrebounded this Bucs team by way more than 9.

LVs had only 9 offensive rebounds thru the first 3 QTRs.

Zee doing what good players do and making it work. Not finishing great around the rim right now but she stayed aggressive, got to the line (15 FT attempts), made them well and shot the ball well from three.

When she stretches the floor it makes us really hard to guard. When her finishing cleans up she’s going to be really really good. I think she will be a top 10 draft pick along with Barker.

I saw little improvement in half court offense nor full court press .....maybe later down the road.It would be nice to see some screens and set plays when they have to play half court offense. Threes went in against an inferior defensive team . I feel/hope that these two things will improve as the season progresses......

Prawl on defense is insufferable.

You can tell it wasn’t about it running up the score tonight it was about running some offense or attempting to we still have a long way to go smart move taking cooper out force somebody else to do something….but I like some stuff I saw rotation in he press was better it’s not always about making the steal forcing the other team to use shot clock

Watched the entire game tonight.
Really really impressed with the entire team. One of the deepest teams I’ve seen in WBB.
All the shots aren’t falling right now but the basketball talent on this roster is just so elite.
As for the performance, I would give the entire team the game ball.
This looked like a Top 10 team going about their business like pros.
They were calm and played a composed game which is more of the uptempo style CKC wants to see.
The missed 3s weren’t bad shots.
They weren’t necessarily winning shots with the game on the line though.
I think it’s part of a natural instinct for players to just settle for open jump shots without using their athleticism to get to the basket.. if they work out that particular habit offensively this team would be incredible.
Anyone that thinks this LV team is inferior to UCLA haven’t picked up a basketball in their lives in a real competition, which by the way I don’t know why UCLA is even being mentioned weeks before the game.
Winning or losing that game isn’t as drastic as people think.
This is basketball not football. Winning regular season non-conference games just look great on paper. May or may not factor into NCAA tourney seeding down the road but it’s a long season.
I’m confident we’ll win way more than our fair share this season against ranked opponents.
