Memphis St Tigers>Tennessee Vols?

Word is the Memphis coach will most likely be Ark's next coach?
Not surprised. BUT...if we've learned anything so far (excluding Coach Heupel) the AAC is CLEARLY not a proving ground for Power 4 head coach positions. Not saying one won't happen...just haven't seen it yet (CJH proved his worth at other P4 programs too) JMO.

But they didn’t so they didn’t.
Did you just give a hypothetical scenario where you think Memphis would've beaten UAB, then tell try to shut down another poster who responded with a more likely hypothetical scenario where they would've lost to Arkansas? Interesting strategy.

Almost like he's not actually a UT fan, but wants to try and say the worst logic to hold up his asinine post

Here’s the playoff field, for now

First and foremost, this would be the 12-team playoff field if the postseason were to begin tomorrow, starting with the 12th seed: Memphis, Virginia, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas Tech, BYU, Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M, Indiana and Ohio State

Who would have ever thunk it?

Neyland Stadium 102.455 fan capacity
Memphis Stadium 59,000.
Memphis is only being projected as a playoff team because there are no G6 teams that are ranked in the committee's top 25. People are making assumptions that Memphis would be the pick as of now. Even with three losses, Tennessee is ranked above 1 loss Memphis.

You can bleed orange and still see that Vandy and Memphis are both possibly better teams than the Vols this season. We will find out versus Vandy.
Based on what in regard to Memphis? Common opponents? Quality wins? Quality of losses? An insatiable desire to crap on the team you claim to support?

Actually Memphis likely would have won that game had Lewis not been out toward the end. So saying they were destroyed is quite the stretch.
1. Lewis didn't really do much of anything in 2+ quarters of play. It was already a 10 point deficit when Hill came into the game.

2. UAB is terrible. Legitimately one of the 20 worst teams in all of the FBS. There are likely several FCS teams that would beat UAB.

@VFL-82-JP summed it up best. They're a decent sized catfish in a small pond.

Memphis is the kind of program where 3-stars that don't get P4 offers and P4 players that get recruited over go to. There just isn't any comparison between our programs.

To offer a little perspective using recent history,
Example 1. Arion Carter was a 2/3 star committed to Memphis. A growth spurt before his senior year & unreal tape made him a 4/5star and Memphis a non factor.
Example 2. Elijah Herring. Contributed for us due to injury but got recruited over (guess by who) and transferred to Memphis for playing time.

I'm not trying to be overly disdainful of Memphis, but I'd view a loss to them as the biggest upset of Heupel's tenure and a 'sun shines on a dogs a$s kind of day' for them.

TL/DR
Stupid question. We're better.

It will always be Tiger High to me!
I try not to be contemptuous of Tiger High. I want to pull for them, but they make it so difficult.

Remember a couple of years ago when they wore those ghetto fabulous chrome helmets with 901 on the side? Nothing says rebranding and moving past your Memphis State roots like bragging about your area code............

Also of note, UAB beat Memphis with their back up QB. Their win over Memphis is the only game they have won in nearly two months. Over that span, they lost by 18 at home against 4-4 Army, lost by 20 at 3-5 FAU and by 19 at 6-3 UCONN in addition to the 32 point loss to the Vols.

A return to the old “he’s not a fan” because he posted a contradictory thought. I’ve been a fan of UT since high school during Dewey Warren and Curt Watson days. Bu t I also attended Memphis State due to cost and location and have some allegiance to them as well. Obviously they haven’t had the history and success of UT but they continue to put forth the effort and I give them kudos for that. Now bash away

Great...but the fact remains is that the Tiggers are no where near as good as UT is, in any sport, and to compare them is laughable....might as well compare Tennessee Tech or ETSU

Eh, come back and talk to us about Memphis after they play Oklahoma, Bama, Georgia, and Florida.

They will get bounced in the first round, if they even make it. Mighty Tulane coming to Memphis tonight.
That media darling didn't fare so well last week either. The coach is the only thing getting them any consideration.
