Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

You watch this team and even as an optimist you sometimes just go wth? How can they be so good one moment and so bad another.

Then you read it's a team of 49% freshman, and if you've ever worked with youth you go...

So UGA has basically the same number’s we have but as usual some on here find it “amazing “ that we’ve won 6 games.

has condredge not been on the small ish side he would have balled out in NFL. Think he had a long career with the Inuits, or Roughridgers of CFL.

Much like Spurrier, you have to wonder what his life would be like had he chosen baseball.

Unlike Spurrier, if he had been white you have to wonder what his life had been like had he chosen baseball.

As an aside; anyone who hasnt needs to watch the 30:30.
I don't care if he was 5'4" and green, Condredge was a ball player. He was as big as Fran Tarkenton and better and would have killed in the NFL. NFL and pro sports in general have always been behind the times I remember listening to games with my Daddy while we were in the barn on Saturdays and John Ward would say, "Holloway drops back" and pause. My Daddy said, "Run you somebich run." I asked him how he knew he was running and he said, "When that announcer pauses, he's running for his life."

absolutely, and a gentleman. think about the stoicism necessary to do what he did with the racial epithets.

For the McCoy is hurting his draft stock crowd

The NFL people don't give a rat's about college play, it may get you noticed but in the end it is about measurables and tools. It performance and stats in college were that important, why are most of the Heisman winner busts in the NFL? It is no different than recruiting rankings in high school, all based on potential.
Ya never know if a hose is any good until it is under pressure.

If I could have dinner with any past Vols it would be Condredge and Al Wilson. I know most would say Peyton or Johnny Majors but for my money I would love to sit down with all those two, two game changers and under respected Vols.

64.8% underclassmen. Wow. It all makes sense now. Gonna be some bumps and rough times but when this roster matures more, it'll be fantastic.

It's crazy how similar GA's numbers are to ours. We took our licks this year. Roster retention plus a few good portal pieces. Lets ride.

I've seen this story many times and I hoped it would happen for Boo. Thank the Lord that he put people in your life. It is kids( I know your not a kid, but to me you probably are) like you that keep me going doing what I do.
Amen brother! Very blessed. I feel that I was groomed to be who I am today and I have been given more than I could have ever imagined. Shoot I’m sending 5k to our Jamaican friends today because of the Lord. I feel those with hard pasts usually become the best givers and helpers of others. My wife and I work with many in and out of jail now and it’s important to give back. If you ever doubt you are changing lives by just showing up, know you are even if people don’t say it to you.

I’d put Iceman after Hendon. JG should be 10th at best.
This list is awful. All-time, I have no idea, but since Shuler is the oldest on the list. I will start with 92.

1. Peyton (Obvious)
2. Shuler (He was so good, unbelievable college qb)
3. Hendon (Heisman candidate if he stays healthy
4. Dobbs
5. Martin (I honestly didn't think Martin was great, but made clutch plays and won a national championship)
6. Ainge (Awful 2005 season, but was good other 3 years)
7. Aguilar (Story is not over, but his numbers are ridiculous)
8. Bray (Great arm, but questionable decision making. Beat up on weak teams. Not his fault he played for Dooley
9. Clausen (I didn't think Clausen was great, but also think Randy Sanders was an awful coordinator)
10. Milton (JG is not on my list. I like the guy, but didnt think he was a good QB.)

Tony Robinson played in a totally different era and offense. Hendon Hooker would not have been Hendon Hooker in the 80's, he might have been Tony Robinson..
Just know what I seen with my eyes. Tony was special. Would have loved to see what that 85 season ended up like without dirty Bama ending Tony’s career. I think we might have gotten our first Heisman. Hooker is a fair comparison since Robinson only played 15 games as a Vol. Knee injuries were much different then to. Medical technology has came a long way. But Tony still played 1 game in the pros as a replacement player during the strike. Beat the Cowboys with a bunch of their players crossing the picket line to. Some say it was the biggest upset in NFL history. The Redskins gave Tony a Superbowl ring. The movie the replacements is loosely based on it.
