New York City

Did you whine to high heaven about this? I missed it

I’ve long criticized Trump for being insufficiently right wing, insufficiently capitalist, and specifically for his moves to obtain government ownership over companies.

Yes.

5 years ago? He is still openly talking about buying apartment buildings and having state owned grocery stores.

What in the world would lead you to believe he’s moved on from this view?
It's not remotely part of his platform. Is opening a city-run grocery store "seizing the means of production"?

Yes.
But did you vote for Trump? You sure made it sound like a dealbreaker
Don’t forgot our local libertarian, Huff, loves this guy. Who cares if he wants to “seize the means of production”.

So 5 years and you can’t find any statement of his claiming he no longer believes that?

But he does still call himself a socialist, he claimed the goal of socialism is to seize the means of production (not only does he claim that, but it’s well known), and he has open plans to take significantly greater government ownership of current market ran enterprises?

Just admit you don’t care and you want him to “seize the means of production”

This is not how it works lmfao. It's not part of his platform and you can't provide any remotely recent statement, but are instead explaining why his actual platform is some interview you didn't like from 5 years ago

And again, a simple "no" would have sufficed

He made the claim 5 years ago that seizing the means of production is the ultimate goal of socialism. He still calls himself a socialist. His platform involves taking over both grocery stores and rental properties.

So what reason do you have to believe he no longer wants to seize the means of production? “It’s not in his official platform!”? That’s it? That’s all you got?

It's based on every study I have been able to find. The opposite of purely subjective.

I do not except the notion that every president will be more divisive than the previous one.
Divisiveness was the Bannon/Stone strategy from day one. Democrats are the enemy, an enemy that must be defeated.
trumpism was built on appealing to a segment with a desperate need for a defined enemy.

He overtly lies and covertly lies. Another Bannon/Stone strategy from the onset.
Never back down from a lie and never ever apologize for anything.

Civility is often a performance......nothing wrong with that.
It's like shaking hands after a basketball game.
trump is like a coach who not only refuses to shake hands but criticizes his own players, the other coach, the other team, and the refs during the post game press conference.
its subjective one way or the other, no matter what. No one consumes literally ALL of twitter, or any social media platform. I don't even try here on VN which is 1/1000000th of any of those others. Everyone chooses what they listen to/see. If you are seeing more right handed propaganda its because that is what you are choosing to consume. hate clicks still count the same.

Republicans/MAGA are also the enemy, were from day 1 for you guys. Just like Bush was literally Hitler too. it gets worse with each one because neither side actually gets any better, and always uses the past actions to justify their new ones. Obama was locking out Republican journalists long before Trump was in office. Obama used the IRS to go after conservatives, long before Trump was in office. Trump just built upon the divisive that was already there. you refuse to believe your side is capable of wrong, so when you pay attention when the Rs are in charge, you see all of it and assume the Rs must be responsible for all of it.

all politicians lie. all politicians strategize on lying. the Dems just covered up Biden being literally mentally incapable of being responsible for his own acts. Sharp as tack, was the most blatant lie we have seen in ages. its so bad that afterwards the very people who perpetrated the lie are asking how it could have happened. it happened because they all lied and covered up for the lies with more lies. Obama's big political policy was all a SECRET lie, remember how we had to vote to see what was in it?

Obama won a Nobel Peace Prize while dropping more bombs than we had since Vietnam. civility is not just a performance. actual civility requires action to back up the performance, otherwise it isn't civility. like I said, Trump just dropped the act to show how uncivil politicians are.

"All you got" is a comment in passing from 5 years ago that you are desperately trying to make scary in 2025, spare me

@NashVol11

do you still beat your wife. One word, yes or no, answers only.

you can't expect an honest conversation if you frame the only acceptable answers in a way that doesn't tell the truth.
A simple "no" to my question would 100% have told the truth. If you are worried about telling the truth you should be talking to the "he's seizing the means of production!!" guy, not me. I am not the one being dishonest here lol

Do you believe he still wants to seize the means of production?

Is there a single example of him praising markets or capitalism? Or do you only have examples of him talking about how the government needs to take over markets?

Seriously, do you have any valid reason to believe he no longer wants to seize the means of production?

No, there is absolutely nothing to suggest that he does. You are trying way too hard

That's like saying Coach Y just dropped the act to show that no coaches wanted to shake hands, complement the other team, and take the blame off their own players.

That coach would rightfully be universally vilified.

Civility is the combination of a performance and action.

trump is horrendously despicable and deserves to be vilified.

Yes, we understand, he is those things because he wasn't going along with the plan of murdering Americans, committing treasonous crimes against the election process involving foreign governments, setting traps and destroying evidence of a make believe insurrection, selling arms to ISIS and getting kick backs, etc.

We get it, you are great for voting for those people and everyone is just ignorant as to why they should have voted your way. And if we don't want him eliminated than we idiots for that as well.

You seem to have this all figured out.

Civility is the combination of a performance and action.

Civility: Where we call people hitler and hope they are eliminated from the equation.

your question was parsing reality to get the answer you want. and you phrased it specifically to avoid a larger response that would have given meaning to a yes or no question.

There isn't a larger response. The answer is no. "Communism" and "seizing the means of production" aren't part of his platform, it's just 20 different ways of saying a 5-year-old comment is super scary

You take everything Trumps says as a fact but if Mamdani has said stuff in the past it’s not true and you shouldn’t worry about it.
As I've said in this very thread before, I don't care at all what Trump said 5 years before running for office
