Love ya Mad but you’re wrong on this one. A quarter oz, or 7 grams, is an amt. commonly sold at dispensaries (and elsewhere I hear) and is way more than one joint. They sell pre rolls that are about a gram each. CJ is right on this one. A quarter is far more than dust on the shoes. Weed is so strong now that a qtr will last even a habitual smoker a couple of weeks. It’s not nothing.
We all had our days madtown....1981. Stationed at pensacola florida.. Naval air station.... We used to meet at panama city beach for a "b y o b" and a "jim jones punch" party.. the aim was to get fubarI kind of love the direction this thread has taken. I did not know there were this many stoners on the board!!!
I worked on hundreds of criminal cases during and after law school, I certainly know the process of a traffic stop. Your implication was she was breaking the law and was stopped for that. I would argue she was stopped because the UTPD and KPD regularly go on fishing expeditions late at night/early in the morning because they don't have anything better to do. The "smells like weed when the window gets rolled down" is thrown out as a reason for a valid search more often than not today. The excuse for the stop listed in the report was that she was weaving around and failing to maintain her lane. Yet, she wasn't cited for that. I can almost guarantee this stop and charge will be tossed once it gets in front of a session court judge, if not before.
I would 100% disagree that she got off easier for being a student-athlete. Supervisors review the dash and body cams when someone "known" is stopped to assure that athletes and local celebrities don't receive special treatment. Officers in Knoxville have been terminated for letting athletes off easy.
Look, she shouldn't have been out at 4:30 AM. But she was stopped for nothing more than being out at that time. If it doesn't get leaked to the media, she's still on the team today.
Man,,,,DP, I've not seen you this committed to a cause the whole time I have been on here.

Also Im not sure why we’re reflexively calling the cop who said she was driving erratically a liar. Might he have saved Ruby or some innocent person a far worse outcome?
…it’s the aroma in here…I purposely avoided this thread for the past few days, thinking that it just would be a total rehash and also because I wanted to avoid more Ruby grief than I had already. Her message so soon after the debacle sort of ruined me for a moment. What was impressive when I did finally relent and read the thread was that I saw in some cases the debate and communication went deeper than it had been, a few especially well thought out posts, most of the dialogue was free of personal attacks, and people were occasionally gently confronted about their mistakes which they then accepted. Am I in a dream?
I didn’t call the cop a liar. I noted that the cop used something as basis for a stop, then chose not to charge what the basis for the stop supposedly was.Love ya Mad but you’re wrong on this one. Because I think the situation was bogus and someone lost part of her basketball career over something bogus. She shouldn’t have been out at 4 AM. If she was not at 4 AM, this never would’ve happened. That said, I’m very disappointed in the situation and how it was handled by all parties.Man,,,,DP, I've not seen you this committed to a cause the whole time I have been on here.

You have to be responsible.. when you're being irresponsible.Got some long time friends. We get together occasionally and fire one up, pass it around. Relive the good old days. Responsibly. No driving. Wife grew up out west. Attended Woodstock West (San Francisco) with friends. Got there in a Volkswagen van believe it or not. People might be surprised how many senior citizens partake. I realize Coach Caldwell got boxed in and had to respond the way she did. Just sorry Ruby ended up getting tossed over such a really piddling offense.
And she certainly paid a price for a misdemeanor offense. She was not charged with reckless driving nor DUI. Do you think she should/would have been dismissed had it been a misdemeanor level speeding ticket? I understand both sides of the discussion and agree she should have been more cognizant of her situation and exercised extreme caution in her activities. Sad it turned out the way it did for her. Wish her the best. You have to be responsible.. when you're being irresponsible.
