Ohio State, Indiana, A&M, Alabama, Ole Miss and Oregon are my personal top 6. 5 of the 6 teams’ starting qb came from another school, heck all of their best players are transfers. How many elite programs are there out there?
What qualifies as elite?
What did they do in the portal?
Asking for convo, not to start an argument.
It was, our neighborhood was locked down after the first hour. National Guard got there to secure the scene. And the surrounding area. Did the link I posted for video work? That was a sad day. The pilot requested and was granted an unrestricted takeoff to showoff for his parents who were in town. He got disoriented in the clouds and stalled he was able to get the engines restarted but it was too late. A crazy back story is that the same pilot (John Stacey Bates) had to eject from another F14 a year earlier. The plane broke apart after a high speed pass by a Navy ship, luckily both pilots were able to eject that time.
BTW the Blue Bears are pretty good this year. I am an old Cobra.

The portal does absolutely help you take that next step with the right guys, look at Indiana for example. Most of their starters are transfers and they’re winning by 40 each game
It is true that you are ultimately judged on your record, but it is incorrect to say you are what your record is. Football example: 1997 Tennessee was a better team than 1998 Tennessee. 1998 got a few breaks and ended up with the better record and the ring. Life example: How you end up is not solely based on how good you are, there is not one person ever who has not experienced unmerited good fortune, near miss scrapes with disaster, and the grace of the Almighty. Believe me I know from experience your season is not simply a result of your talent and effort and your life is not simple a sum of your deeds. In 1998, Florida and Arkansas were top 10 teams when we played them. Both games were close to a toss up ... We were a heavy favorite vs Arkansas this season and a road favorite at Mississippi State...both those games came down to the end when they actually shouldn't have... But I know the SEC is a gauntlet crowd will reply very soon...
In the end you are what your record says you are ... Mississippi State and Arkansas are bottom feeders in SEC....
NoBefore I ask/mention this, I am in no way, shape or form implying I think or want this to happen, I absolutely do not want any of this to happen, this question is a pure hypothetical question just out of curiosity to see what you all think:
Out of curiosity, if we do end up going 7-5, would Heups seat get warm, or at least the stove turned on in a sense? Im not implying that I want this to happen or I think it will, because I dont. But I do think that if this were to happen then we would need to change a lot of things with the program imo. Not the hc, but definitely coordinator, portal philosophy, position coaches, etc.
Reasons why, should we do finish 7-5 we:
-match the worst record under heupel
-end the season 2-4
-losing record in conference play
-no momentum or confidence for next year
Absolutely! The proven key to long term success is still stability. The grass is greener crowd will always be disappointed and chasing the next flavor of the month. I'm not real high on Banks right now, and maybe Willie, who's about my age, needs to retire or take an off field role, but the more staff continuity the better in the long run. It's easier to get a Kirby when you've had a Richt.
Mississippi State and Arkansas are bottom feeders in this conference.. believe what you want they are not very good teams.... Not saying Tennessee isn't any good but those two teams are hot garbage and Kentucky also...It is true that you are ultimately judged on your record, but it is incorrect to say you are what your record is. In sports, 90% of teams fall into below average-average-above average, 1-7%really good to great 2-3% are elite. The standard for great or elite doesn’t change much season to season but getting there can be as simple as making a FG, getting a sack, stopping a fourth down play……it’s madding sometimes how something so simple can determine so much. That is every season of every team ever. A few plays make or break a season. Were you around in 1998? People romanticize it now but we should have lost to Syracuse, we should have lost to Florida, and it was a miracle that we beat Arkansas. Any one of those would have derailed us and it would have been the same as right now.
Winning the ring is freaking hard and you have to have some breaks go your way or divine intervention.
As the poet said, Let me tell ya folks it's harder than it looks , It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock n roll.
Didi ever mention firing CJH? Nope but there are many in this fan base that are churning for changes somewhere..go check the X bunch of loud mouths...It's easier to get a Kirby when you've had a Richt.
To be fair we got Hood. Maybe the staff didn’t expect McCoy to be out all seasonYou're fine, lol
I just think if we had gotten a few other dudes from the portal at certain positions we might be better off.
Redmond playing this year will help him in the years to come, but we really should’ve went after an experienced DB to put there. That’s just one example.
Are you seriously saying that Indiana, aTm, and Ole Miss are elite football programs? What have any of them ever done. I mean even if you just started watching CFB last year that is a Stretch Armstrong stretch.Ohio State, Indiana, A&M, Alabama, Ole Miss and Oregon are my personal top 6. 5 of the 6 teams’ starting qb came from another school, heck all of their best players are transfers.

Imo only 2 elite programs..What has Ole Miss done to be elite? What has IU done? What has Oregon done? What has A&M done?
Are you saying they’re elite *this* year? Bc that would mean Vols were elite last year. Made the playoffs. Same as some of those teams you mentioned, including Oregon who also got obliterated by OSU after Vols did.
So for the convo, what’s your criteria for elite?
yes. If we lose in Gainesville fans are going to be pissed and booing the first time we do something stupid vs Vandy. Before I ask/mention this, I am in no way, shape or form implying I think or want this to happen, I absolutely do not want any of this to happen, this question is a pure hypothetical question just out of curiosity to see what you all think:
