Never coming back to Neyland

I made this account to partly share my frustrations. I’ve been a huge vol fan my whole life. I grew up going to the games. I graduated from there. I finally got the opportunity to take my wife to a game in Neyland this last Saturday and I was so excited for her to experience it for the first time.

Leading up to the game everything was fairly normal until we actually got in the stadium. We had pretty decent seats in the lower bowl behind the Tennessee bench (but not the premiums). We had an older couple behind us (likely mid 60’s) arguing the whole game and cussing at each other. Fairly annoying but we ignored it. Big game.. Night game.. people drink.. whatever.

Before halftime we both felt this rush of fluid on our back. We turn around and the older woman is throwing up all over us and into a bag. It gets all on our jackets and clothes. all on our seats. Instead of the “wtf” we try to be nice. It happens, we go to the bathrooms and clean off best we can. We tell the stadium personnel that throw up is all on our seats we need it cleaned or can we find another seat. They essentially laughed at us. Said good luck finding another seat here (because it’s sold out)

We were without a seat the whole second half. Had to find a concourse area to stand and watch the whole rest of the game with throw up on us after paying $900 for seats. While standing in the concourse a younger woman rushes out throwing up and hitting our shoes. So that’s the Neyland experience these days? Pay $900 for two tickets to take your wife for the first time. Get thrown up on twice by unruly fans who can’t handle their alcohol. Lose your seats halfway through the game because vomit is all over them, and the stadium personnel can’t help you they just laugh.

My wife never wants to come back. And frankly I don’t either.. almost $1,000 for that. And to lose. Come on…

UT ticket office has reached out to me but I doubt they reimburse or do anything about it.

Just venting… I know it could be worse but I really was hoping for a great experience for her and some of our fans ruined it. Neyland is a place where I eventually wanted to get season tickets, bring our future kids too, etc. and Saturday wasn’t the best first impression on my wife.
Sorry for that. Havent been to Neyland in a while.

Save yourself money and frustrations and just watch it on a huge TV/ Entertainment system.

The way technology is, I definitely prefer it.

I know this does not help now but I always bring Clorox wipes to public events like this. Usually in my wife’s purse or in my pocket if she is not with me. I have been to many large venues when the seat was nasty when I arrived. It is nice knowing you can quickly sanitize an area if needed.

I love Neyland, I loved the drive from central KY to get there, I loved beakfasting at Cracker Barrel on the way down, I loved the farmer market shopping at Market Square, loading the big cooler box with Tennessee farm products, I loved the whole experience of going to and in Neyland. But I stopped going a few years ago. Got sick of bipedal whales squeezing us out of our seats. Got sick of them just smirking when their whale calves spilled their coke or whatever they were drinking and made no attempt to stop the spread of the liquid our way. In some cases, I believe it was on purpose. So got BIG TV to enjoy games at home with meals I and the wife prepared. I like the grilled lamb, or venison, or other game meats and side dishes we added. I miss Neyland, but not the misery that came with it. But I miss being part of the crowd, I really do.

I almost got in a fight at the last game I went to when someone got pushed down onto my 3-year old son. Fortunately the guys had a respectful response when I told them they needed to calm down. Selling alcohol inside the stadiums is a mistake. The language is terrible. My last 2 game experiences have not been good.

I know what you mean…those that look like they’d be more at home flopping around on a polar ice shelf.

This will sound harsh but if you're that fragile then traveling to a big time college football game is probably not the best thing for you. Stay on the couch and watch form the comfort of your house.
You must not be old enough to be married? I’m a grown ass man 63 years old! But if someone does something to my wife then that pisses me off big time!!!! So throw up on me no big deal , throw up in my wife then as merl ice said you’ll see the fighting side of me! So you’re condoning this type of behavior?? What are you from New York?

The drunks who do not handle their inebriation are a problem.
It’s not just the drunks it’s the fact that most sporting events and concerts now put profits over the people attending their venues! Alcohol has the highest return on the investment of just about any thing sold at these events so that will not change as long as the profit over comfort mentality exists! I’ve pretty much given up on attending public events anymore! Also enforcement is lackadaisical at some events more or less

Its just a big money grab place now. With NIL and White making all the changes most people at the events are just people with the money. Not the real diehard fans. I haven't been to a game in many years and probably won't ever again. Costs to much to take a family. Ridiculous. All games sellout and then there are thousands of tickets on 3rd party sites with inflated prices. Complete joke. Politicians need to step in and block the price gouging and scamming going on with these 3rd party ticket sales.

I cant handle my liquor either but it just leads to me being the only loud fan on enemy 3rd downs in section QQ

It's not price gouging because going to a football game is not an essential good/service.
