Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Finishing 5th in the Heisman voting isn't elite? Come on.... Hendon's last season here was elite, over 3500 total yards with 32 total TDs and only 2 INTs while throwing for 69.6% and playing in just 11 games.
You missed the point entirely. Hooker put up some elite numbers, but he wasn't an elite first round guy at QB. Heupel's system can make a good QB look great...which has been great for us...but we've yet to see a truly elite TALENT (physical AND mental) in his system.

Thanks, Herbie. I guess UT is the only school with some fans like that. Good thing the buckeye fans he loves are so much more patient and understanding and never said a cross word about Ryan Day before he won the championship last year.

Y’all gotta pay attention more

Let’s not overreact to last night, gotta remember we are essentially returning only 2 contributors from last year’s team. Give em a couple of games to gel and we’ll be fine.

Also, Ament played solid last night and will only get better, so not sure where the “Ament is a disappointment” talk is coming from
The Ament disappointment talk is craziness. Too many mouth breathers. It's going to be another fun basketball season.

Not saying Herbie is wrong this time, but for a guy that thought we should of hired Schiano, he best sit this one out. Just stop talking about it, doesnt help.
This just fuels the narrative for next season, of is Heupel on the hot seat at Tennessee😡

I'm going to reverse course. I think Huepel not only is a great coach. I think what he's been able to do despite the talent gap, with this team is really really impressive.
My only concern is we keep talking about the talent gap. He is in year 5. I’m honestly not too concerned with the offensive talent. We failed Saturday night and at Bama because of poor execution, not because we didn’t belong due to talent offensively(like in many many years prior to Heupel). However, I do feel like there is a gap in talent at certain positions on defense in year 5, both starters and especially quality depth. That is very concerning to me. Also feel like there is a gap with our scheme. Enough said.

Here is a trivia question: do you know who are the 3 teams in the entire country whose defense has given up no more than 24 points every game?? Ohio State and Indiana are 2 and both are undefeated. Guess the 3rd one. The team is 4-5!

I’m beginning to think Kiffin stays at ole miss
If he does through this insane coaching hiring deal we’re about to see I’m thinking he may actually only leave for Tennessee if CJH ever left

No I DONT WANT CJH fired

I’m really beginning to think Kiffin may truly regret leaving here

Kiffin will never coach @ UT again

I posted this in the basketball forum but I meant to post it here. I don't pay enough attention.

Florida just lost to Arizona in basketball and then someone just dropped this news on their 247 board:

“The two names that I'm hearing the most about over the last few days are Jeff Brohm and Eli Drinkwitz. Brohm is a name that the high school coaches around the state really like and they believe he's someone that would win at Florida.
Based off of some recent talks, I think it's fair to say that there's a good chance Kiffin stays at Ole Miss.“

It's not going to be that difficult to make the playoffs most years. It's akin to making the NCAABB tournament.
Invol, in the 2025 NCAA tournament 14 SEC teams made the dance. We are talking about 4 SEC teams making the playoffs in a normal and possibly 5 on a great year. Not sure if you're serious but if you are you need to rethink your math. It's not in the same universe.

There are 129 FBS Schools. If the playoff expands to 18 that's roughly 14% of the teams will make the playoffs.
There are 365 teams in DIV 1 Basketball of which 68 teams get in including the play in games. That equates to about 19%.

Math seems pretty solid to me.
