Greenville (SC) High edge rusher Franklin Whitley has become a major target for a few programs this fall. He’s spent a lot of time at South Carolina this season. They’re in the thick of it, as is Florida State.

So is Tennessee.

This is an unofficial visit for the 6-foot-7, 265-pound Whitley. Look for Tennessee to get him back to Knoxville for an official visit for the Vanderbilt game.

2026 defensive lineman Franklin Whitley is expected to be in from South Carolina this week, and this will be his first of two visits to Tennessee this month. He is planning to return later in the month on an official visit when the Vols host Vanderbilt. This is his first year back playing football since the 5th grade, and with his massive frame and basketball background, his play on the field and potential upside has caught the attention of a number of college programs.

I believe so.

We need a transfer portal DT anyhow. Would have loved to have this kid but he wouldn’t be playing pivotal minutes anyway.

He seems obsessed with playing EDGE when he’ll easily be 285 by the time his freshman starts of just adding muscle.
