Halligan is 'a former White House aide with no prior prosecutorial experience' who was never eligible to serve, the judge said.

A 120-day deadline on interim appointments expired during the previous prosecutor's tenure, meaning Pam Bondi did not have the authority to appoint Halligan - this was up to the district's federal judges.

'I conclude that all actions flowing from Ms. Halligan's defective appointment, including securing and signing Mr. Comey's indictment, constitute unlawful exercises of executive power and must be set aside,' wrote Currie, a Bill Clinton-appointed judge.

Lindsey Halligan, whose prior experience has mostly been as an insurance lawyer, has really made a mess of the Comey case. There are also statute of limitations questions as well. I can't see the Comey case being refiled.

As far as the James case is concerned ... it's less clear, but there will always be issues when you have a President using social media to order his Attorney General to prosecute people he clearly views as enemies of his. There is no place for vindictive prosecutions in the United States Department of Justice.

The Schiff case is in big trouble as well.

Just for the sake of argument, I will agree that the Biden administration did the same thing ....

However, even so, the double standard would go both ways. It would be really childish, and not a defense at all, for you to say that the Biden administration was wrong for weaponizing the Department of Justice and targeting personal and political enemies, but then insist that it's now acceptable for the Trump administration to do the same thing .... just because "BIDEN DID IT FIRST!"

It's either wrong to weaponize the DOJ for personal vindication and political gain or it's not. If you are trying to have it both ways .... then you also have a double standard.

Threats have become Donald Trump's default response to pretty much anything.

On a daily basis, Trump will threaten to pull the broadcast license of at least one network. That has gotten so old.
