Blakes ain’t scoring 40 points against a good team unless she takes over 20- 25 shot attempts like today just to beat California (which isn’t a good team) and the opponent just let her keep scoring because they’re blowing Vandy out by 20 points.
If you’re taking 20-25 shots attempts with solid talent you should average 30 ppg.
That’s the thing about praising players on mediocre or bad teams.
Yes, Blakes will score and get attention because that’s how sports are nowadays but this Vandy program won’t be competing for much of anything in the near future.

Vandy/Cal was nothing to write home about. I expected Vandy to win and they did. I have to agree though that they won't stay in the top 25. Obviously I'm a UConn fan and thus rooting for Shea to be successful, but I think Vandy's success from season to season will be incremental rather than leaps and bounds. What their ceiling is, I can't say ...

The Duke/Baylor game was a complete rock fight. Neither of these teams impressed me. I like Kara and am impressed with what she's done so far with Duke; I think they will improve as the season continues, but I don't currently see them making it to the FF (and if they have an terrible shooting game like today, they might not make it out of the S16). I could see them winning the ACC depending on how the chips fall throughout conference play. Their defense is good. Offense ... the less said, the better. 29% FG and 21% 3PT. Yikes. Not that Baylor was much better ... I wouldn't exactly be patting myself on the back about the "upset".

Sooners will be a player this year in the SEC. Plenty of depth and talent. They aren’t special on defense as usual, but they have enough offense and depth to be a contender.

Former LV guard Avery Strickland now at Belmont just out the claps defensively on an Oklahoma player.
OK has a long way to go to be a SEC and NCAA contender.

Beers, Verhultz, Williams and Chavez is a really good nucleus, they will contend.

Beers (and Verhulst) out performing her right now. I hope OU didn't actually write that check for Chavez. Maybe I'm a hater. Wasn't that just rumor anyway?

I don't see OU being a legitimate threat this season. They will remain in the bottom half of the SEC. Edit: they will BE in the bottom half. IMHO.

Remain? Jesus, did you see their record last season? You can’t make this stuff up. “Remain in bottom half of the SEC”…..you sure do follow WBB closely, or not.

They finished 4th out of 16 in their first year in the SEC and went 27-8. Remain in the bottom half? Take that nonsense back to Conn maple. Your boot licking is warping reality. Remain…the ignorance flows.

Belmont just took the lead 54-51. This SC chicken fan likes to try to control the narrative with their biases about certain situations and right now that’s why they are talking up Oklahoma. That silly insult they made towards you for saying Oklahoma doesn’t look like a contender (which they don’t right now) losing to a mid-major on their homecourt as a Top 10 team was uncalled for.

Okay, first of all, I don't really get the hostility. When did I piss in your cheerios? And who exactly was I bootlicking for with my comments?? For the record, I was looking at this chart on ESPN when I made my statement. I was doing multiple things at once and not paying attention. Apologies for the error.

Chavez is going to have to learn how to pass. Her shot selection is worse than bad.

I do think she’ll struggle with the speed and physicality in the SEC. She’s not used to having actual competition.

OU will still be a tough team but they lost so many key veteran players I do not think they’ll be as tough this season.

Their PG play is a big question mark right now and it wasn’t with Tot controlling the ball. She was a great PG for them.

OU won so you should be happy. They're the best team in the SEC, etc etc.

I admit I thought Kentucky was underrated in the preseason polls, but they don't look great. I thought that even with the loss of Amoore, they have more quality depth this year, and that Morgan/Obi would make a nice backcourt.
