1) Suppose we fire Haupel who supposedly has a $37.5 million buyout.
We then would have to empty the bank to hire a "bettet coach".
Where's the NIL money coming from to buy future players and transfers?
2) With vacancies at UF, UCLA, Auburn ,Arkansas and Penn St what reputable coach would raplace a coach who had pulled UT out of a dumpster fire and won 30 games over the last 3 years?
The answer is no one unless they have an iron clad $50-$100 million buyout.

We're not firing Heupel, not because of the money, but because it would be so stupid to do so given the fact he's brought our program back to life. These message board ADs are both an entitled and uninformed bunch, not representative of the majority of the fan base.

Who wants him fired? I’m very critical of him and in no way want him fired. I’m sure there are a few dip ***** but some of this is people blowing off steam.

They can just up the talent fee. Nothing wrong with us paying championship prices for mediocre results.

It is not time to fire Huepel. In my opinion has some choices to make which is to keep what he has and live and die by the sword or to see if he can improve his staff in, again my opinion, a couple of areas. I happen to believe he needs Sam Pittman and perhaps a new S&C coach. But I don’t wanna be an AD, so why do I know?

It is either a kid, a troll, or drug/alcohol related. In this case it may be all three combined.
A member since 2014 must have remembered his password. I guess he slept for 11 years because he does not remember the 14 years before CJH got here.

Some need to realize that SEC schools have fired not 1, but 4 with 3 possibly moving on or in the hot seat Ky, SCe & Sark (looking around the NFL). We could have possibly internal SEC moves as well. Drink and Kiffin. 9 possible moves overall.

Brian Kelly won 29 games over the last 3 years and went to the SECCG. I guess that 1 less win is the difference between Kelly AND the AD being canned and everything being business as usual at Tennessee.

also Mike Elko is making 2 million less per year than Heupel and is undefeated and going to the CFP. by the way he went 7-5 at Duke before he was hired. but somehow they were able to find a winning coach without a dump truck of money.

I think people don't actually want him fired. I do think there is a large swath of people who wish he takes one of these big openings like LSU or Auburn because Tennessee gets paid that way and we are in a way better financial situation than these schools that are going to have to pay buyouts to fire and hire coaches.

Heupel has gotten the program to a level of good not great, but never going to truly collapse and that is all credit to him. I feels like we are in the Mark Richt era. Georgia didn't send him away for the sake of doing so. They did it because they had someone that was going to elevate the program from steady eddie good to GREAT in Kirby Smart.

Right now, there aren't that many coaches who have a high likelihood of doing that. You aren't going to hire the Golesh, Sumrall, or Stein types to get the program to the next level. All of those guys are being mentioned for the Florida and Auburn and LSU's for rebuilding, not elevating. None of those guys have ever encountered those types of expectations.

You aren't going to go hire a James Franklin or Jimbo Fisher type either.

So I think fans who are very upset with Heupel are happy to actually keep him here, but wouldn't lose sleep if he left on his own because Tennessee wouldn't be harmed financially from it.

I think there are only 2 homerun/splash hires that would work here. Conveinently, they have buyouts at their current schools that are around the same as Heupel's.

Why not post the record against top 25 teams only to give a true measuring stick??

We’ve got what we’ve got for now. Maybe some staff changes will put us over the top. At least I can count on the Braves to make an exciting hire and not do something like promote Walt Weiss.

If i were the AD, I would make him replace Banks with a proven D coordinator that and tell Heup to focus on in game management and on the field discipline rather than playcalling. Atp if he doesn’t trust Hazle then he needs to move on from him too.

Sincerely,
Armchair AD

You have to be able to find a clear upgrade at DC that wants to be a DC in Heupel's system of score as fast as you can and keep the defense on the field for over half the game.....
