Thoughts on Heupel from The LSU fanbase

What QB, other than Aguilar, has he gotten from the portal that shows a good track record of picking?

Also, if he has a good track record with the ones he recruited, why are they on the bench?

So far: This isn’t even a list of ones he got from the portal and didn’t play them.

Hooker (not his) - and he actually picked Milton above him
Milton (not his) - we saw how that went.
Nico (his) - we saw how that went
Aguilar (portal)

So, now who’s blowing smoke up someone’s ass?

I’m not anti- JH, but let’s not pretend he has a “good track record”
No QB was coming here with Nico here. Practically every school in America would have signed Nico when Tennessee did but they didn’t have the balls to make the deal.

Nico will be a huge portal pickup this January. Just watch.

Duh. Hood was thought to be a 2 year guy, now he’s going in the draft. Pretty high too. McMurray has been up & down at star but thank God we got him with boo going stupid.

OL has two portal starters. Tenn needed experience there. Both have done pretty well.

Star Thomas has been a solid RB. Kitz a solid TE that was buried at Alabama. Brazzell has been pretty good l, right? That’s just a short list
Did you even read the post I’m talking about or what I wrote?

You come out with trying to act smart by saying Duh” and don’t even know what you “Duh”ing about.

When did I or the other post mention other portal players, outside The QB spot.

Next time try reading comprehension

I caught my mistake. Multitasking isn’t my bag.

There aren’t many at the power 5 level with a better record.
Kelly wasn’t a fit for LSU. Never was starting Day 1. He took the money.

I once heard Sonny Smith, ex Auburn BB coach say after he left Auburn for Va Commonwealth. “I took the money. Looking back, I should have just got out. Taking a job just for money doesn’t work out”.

Thought it would be good/interesting to share some outside perspective on Heupel from another fanbase. In particular one whose actively looking for a HC.

TLDR: They're largely very high on him and have respect for what he's done & the situation he inherited when he arrived. He's not their number 1 choice (Kiffen appears to be) but overall they'd be very happy with the hire. This is one of multiple threads they have on him and their opening.

This season has felt like a kick in the nuts with the defensive struggles & with how the UGA, Bama & OU games played out. Even more so with the missed FG vs UGA & an OU game where we dominated at times and had nothing to show for it. If Gilbert makes that kick vs UGA this season has an entirely different outlook. If Aguilar doesn't kill us with 3 turn overs against OU (the fumble largely not being his fault) - same thing. He put us in a position to win both games, but he can't make the kick or throw the ball. Reading other fanbases thoughts on him has helped give me some new perspective and appreciate what we have despite the flaws. Thought some of you might enjoy the outside perspective as well.

Josh Heupel
I enjoy the outside perspective for sure. And I've also let my mind wander into fantasyland on what could have been for this season. But, you also have to let your mind wander into the darkness of what if Chris Brazzell drops that fourth and seven pass that he double clutched to hang on to at Mississippi State? What if we had 1 game-changing play like happened in Bama or OU when playing Arkansas in our own stadium? We lose either or both of those games, which were possible, it would be an unadulterated meltdown in here.

We're just not that great of a team this year. Good, just not great. Or defense is too soft and we are too mistake-prone and I'm disciplined in a variety of areas to be elite. Plus, we have two more high octane games that we really need to win to not have an embarrassing year. So, once I thought about these things, dropping the fantasy land of being undefeated or one loss wasn't so hard.

Brian Kelly always look like a square peg in a round hole. Reminds me of that ingenious plan that our leadership had when they got ready to bring Greg Shiatno here. Incoming disaster that the fans could see far better than the experts that were paying six or seven figures for.
