Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

I am turning the page to next year since CFP is off the goal board.

Minimum Player loss this season:
Srs
1. Turrentine
2. Aguilar
3. McMurray
4. Star Thomas
5. Josephs
6. Eason
7. West
8. Moi
9. Kitz
10. Bailey

NFL possible / likely
11. McCoy
12. A. Carter
13. Brazzell
14. Heard

Portal likely
15. Boo Carter.

Probably several other portals as well. The hope is most of those are depth players. I think we lost about 10 last season.
I am thinking Hood may be dumb and declare. I don't think he goes high enough to justify leaving early. 1st or 2nd round.

No Slice it won't work. Did what you said and it worked once or twice last night. Got to be my phone. I cleared the cache etc and it still has decent space free etc. Gonna get a new phone next week or so hopefully that helps. Its a Galaxy9 thats 8 years old at least 😆 never had any trouble with it before or scratched the screen etc. If it aint broke ...

As far as scholarships, without even looking we keep ~15DBs on roster to cover the 5 spots on defense. Sometimes more. Yet we had to start true freshman Redmond at Corner, Turrentine who has never been an SEC Safety for 4 years 90 snaps per game ar Safety...and Give Boo Carter significant minutes at Nickel despite the fact hes a total dbag and never wanted to be here. All because we had no better options at those positions. Gibson and Redmond will probably start next year at 2 out of 3 of the Corner/Nickel spots. I would be there will be a BUNCH of roster spots freed up from DBs in January. We have about a dozen guys who never played over an 18yo Cornerback and a Safety who cant cover or tackle people. They better be very young and promising or they're gone IMO.

^^^ haha? Where did that come from?

I agree with you Louder. Decent chance he stays. Then we would have him Gibson and Redmond in theory. That would be great. Boo and McMurray will be gone so we need a starter at Nickel too....and some depth.

Hey @'Boro-vol I have a Q about QBs.

If I remember correctly your son played QB in college, right?
Yessir…he was a “change-up” QB in HS, and won the starting job part of the way through his freshman year of college. He then promptly got hurt (throwing shoulder).

Played WR, and then finally DB his last 3 years. Also played a lot of special teams…on kickoff, as a holder, and a long snapper. Oh yeah…returned kicks too.

Now to your question…🤣

I've never played organized football. The transition from HS to college seems incredibly daunting.

How demanding is it for a HS QB to transition the college game? The complexity? The pace? The playbook? etc?

Even in DivIII where he was, the speed and complexity is a big step up. In HS frequently your best athletes are at QB…and the offense is simplified to let them shine. Not so in college. That was my son’s biggest challenge coming in…so he volunteered to play Scout team qb, which none of the other freshmen wanted to do. It really slowed the game down for him, and made the transition a lot easier. Film study becomes huge, and you can quickly tell who has the “brain” for the game and who is just an athlete.

I cannot imagine what it’s like for the freshman coming into the SEC.

Thanks, man. I appreciate it.
