Better your experience than mine. I'll stay home with some friends (That I'm almost sure won't vomit on meGetting drinks thrown all over you is kind of a part of the experience
I havent read any of the responses to this yet, but I wanted to respond. I hate this situation happened to you guys and I completely understand your venting. I always worry about a visiting fan having this type of experience and it stains something that is truly magical when on point. With all that, I say my season tickets are my insulation from that. I am around the same folks year after year, game after game and we do not see that side of Neyland at all. Its why I would never upgrade to a "better" section, because mine is just fine. Keep season tickets as a goal for your current and future crew as my Saturdays are magical with my boysI made this account to partly share my frustrations. I’ve been a huge vol fan my whole life. I grew up going to the games. I graduated from there. I finally got the opportunity to take my wife to a game in Neyland this last Saturday and I was so excited for her to experience it for the first time.
Leading up to the game everything was fairly normal until we actually got in the stadium. We had pretty decent seats in the lower bowl behind the Tennessee bench (but not the premiums). We had an older couple behind us (likely mid 60’s) arguing the whole game and cussing at each other. Fairly annoying but we ignored it. Big game.. Night game.. people drink.. whatever.
Before halftime we both felt this rush of fluid on our back. We turn around and the older woman is throwing up all over us and into a bag. It gets all on our jackets and clothes. all on our seats. Instead of the “wtf” we try to be nice. It happens, we go to the bathrooms and clean off best we can. We tell the stadium personnel that throw up is all on our seats we need it cleaned or can we find another seat. They essentially laughed at us. Said good luck finding another seat here (because it’s sold out)
We were without a seat the whole second half. Had to find a concourse area to stand and watch the whole rest of the game with throw up on us after paying $900 for seats. While standing in the concourse a younger woman rushes out throwing up and hitting our shoes. So that’s the Neyland experience these days? Pay $900 for two tickets to take your wife for the first time. Get thrown up on twice by unruly fans who can’t handle their alcohol. Lose your seats halfway through the game because vomit is all over them, and the stadium personnel can’t help you they just laugh.
My wife never wants to come back. And frankly I don’t either.. almost $1,000 for that. And to lose. Come on…
UT ticket office has reached out to me but I doubt they reimburse or do anything about it.
Just venting… I know it could be worse but I really was hoping for a great experience for her and some of our fans ruined it. Neyland is a place where I eventually wanted to get season tickets, bring our future kids too, etc. and Saturday wasn’t the best first impression on my wife.
One of my co-workers and husband had the same experience. They headed out at halftime as well.Unfortunately the allure of being there is being replaced by drunk fans and a costly unbearable experience.
We met our family from Ohio in Lexington and took all our grandkid(teens) to the Kentucky game. Sat in expensive lower seats. Surrounded by drunken people with blasting hip hop music made it a horrible experience. We left at halftime.
I went with my daughter , for the first game in 20yrs . My experience was nowhere near yours , but idk if I will ever be back. These young people nowadays are so rude and disrespectful !! Not the Neyland I once knew ! And to spend that kind of money , is RIDICULOUSI made this account to partly share my frustrations. I’ve been a huge vol fan my whole life. I grew up going to the games. No Wonder! Have you seen the entertainment today (TV, Movies, Computers)? In my youth, you never ever heard the F word. Today it's as common as the word "the".I went with my daughter , for the first game in 20yrs . My experience was nowhere near yours , but idk if I will ever be back. These young people nowadays are so rude and disrespectful !! Not the Neyland I once knew ! And to spend that kind of money , is RIDICULOUS
if they are selling their tickets then you have the chance to buy them like everyone else. The thing I’m getting really tired of is season ticket holders never attending a game and selling on Ticketmaster or StubHub to opposing fans instead of just attending the games themselves. I’d gladly buy their seats if they no longer want to attend games. So if you are in NN Row 3 and you don’t attend the games. Sign your tickets over to me
Agree. I’ve been going to games since the early 70’s and crowd behavior has gotten far worse over the years. Of course, society in general has gotten far worse in terms of class and character so nobody should be surprised that it happens at games.I went with my daughter , for the first game in 20yrs . That's what keeps me from changing seats. The same season ticket holders for years. There is one drunk, 3 rows in front of me, he's generally a happy drunk who might flip his finger a few times during the game.I havent read any of the responses to this yet, but I wanted to respond. I had a long conversation with a friend at our tailgate. He confessed for years he would be so full of alcohol at the games he usually had trouble even remembering the game. Finally he realized what an unmitigated moron he was to do that and later found out most of his “friends” avoided him at the games. He’s long since changed and no longer attends intoxicated…and enjoys it so much more now. No one more embarrassing and gross than an intoxicated fool!I'll never understand paying a crazy amount for tickets just to get drunk at the game.
It happens in Knoxville too. The most embarrassing moment I had in Neyland was a young Vol fan cussing out two older couples who were Gamecock fans sitting quietly right after Taco Boy fumbled at the goal line in 2005.I've been to Baton Rouge once and I thought I was going to die. I wound up skipping school in 2005 (my sophomore year in high school) to go down there for the monday night game after Katrina. I thought I was going to die when LSU started their victory laps at halftime up 21-0 and then I thought I was going to die walking out of the stadium to our car wearing Orange.
Always try to get a seat as far away from either end as possible. Middle of the row means you are going to have almost no one walking past you.I had a bad experience when i went to the ETSU game. I missed alot of plays during that game because i kept having to stand up and sit down to let people by that kept wanting to get drinks and go to the bathroom. I have alot of patience but this got old really fast.
Pretty simple to attend every game if you want. I understand that you can’t make every game, but selling every game is nonsense. And I would buy them if they weren’t selling for $340 a ticket when I only pay twice that per seat for season tickets.if they are selling their tickets then you have the chance to buy them like everyone else.
they aren't necessarily selling to opposing fans. they sell to anyone. Tennessee fans included.
selling one or two games is a great way to manage the cost of owning season tickets. the reality is that it's not practical to go to every single game.

I'm glad you shared your story and I can't say I would feel any different than you. I stopped going to games awhile back because it just no longer makes economic sense. You never heard testimonials like this 10 years ago. Now, you get several after every home game. Something is missing.I made this account to partly share my frustrations.
