Sunday, Kiffin shared a message about Indiana and Ohio State's schedules the rest of the season.

"To 100% lock up College Football Playoff spots, Indiana and Ohio State need to beat teams with a combined Big Ten record of 4-23. The Hoosiers play three teams in the final three weeks of the season that are a combined 0-16 in conference play," the message, retweeted by Kiffin, reads.

I really think it’s time for the SEC/B1G challenge to become a thing. Spread out over 2 weekends in September 8 games per weekend. Have a marquee primetime game or stupid B1G Noon game each weekend w/ a big time matchup . It would be great for college football, would be a great TV #, it would force IU, Penn St and some of these other B1G schools into playing a 10th P4 game and stop allowing them to have a 2 or 3 game season.

The SEC going to a 9 game schedule is going to end up looking like a pretty dumbass decision in the very near future. The playoff committee obviously doesn't take much into account for SOS. At least they haven't so far.

I said this to my father over the weekend. The Big10 suckered the SEC into adding another regular season game which will only lead to more carnage within the SEC while making the records of the Big10 look better than the SEC's....

The SEC is going to get a guaranteed 4 automatic qualifiers in the expanded 16 team playoff. The 9 game conference schedule is part of that deal.

Has that been finalized yet? Also, the B1G talked all this junk off season about the SEC scheduling a 9th game . So we do that and we have to play a 10th power 4 game. I really hope Sankey and the media gets on their league about doing the same. The ACC has already followed what the SEC has done (like they had a choice), the B1G needs to follow suit now.

The SEC has been misguided in its attempts to be the best. The addition of a 9th league game while under pressure was weakness. Regardless of whether or not it is best, it seems a lot like caving. The SEC shouldn’t cave ever. They should have required a game against a power five conference and left the schedule at 8 conference games. The SEC CG needs eliminated as well. It is no benefit with a 12 team playoff. All it does is hurt seeding or steal a spot from ourselves.

I am not a fan of the conference changes with teams. That may not be popular, but IDGAF about playing Oklahoma or Texas or TX AM or any of the other teams from the plains. That isn’t the south east.

Nothing new under the sun. Big ten football is a joke. Scheduling bias has been around forever. ND since the 70s. Remember Nebraska who never played any one. ACC for the past 40 years. Remember the big east when vatech played no one for twenty years. I could go on. College football remains tainted and always will be

Yup. Got gassed up to ruin our own league by the B1G and the others whining about our 8 game schedule. School boy move by Sankey.

nope I disagree. they will just select fewer SEC teams.

here's the secret to making the CFP:

1. play in a gigantic 17 or 18 team power 4 conference
2. ensure than only 2 teams are ever really quality teams
3. Build a schedule that avoids playing those teams at all costs
4. Walk to the playoffs

sincerely the B10 and ACC

It's not finalized yet but the SEC and B1G are not going to approve an expansion to 16 teams without the AQs. The ACC and B12 are going to get two each and the G5 gets one. Leaving 3 at large.

The current playoff contract expires after this season. Things are going to change for 2026.

The SEC and B1G are calling the shots, everyone else will get in line. No other conference has any leverage to negotiate with.

I thought the B1G was the only one banging the drum for the 4 AQs and that the SEC wanted it based on rankings. This was supposed to be a done deal over the summer and no one came to an agreement. The ACC and Big 12 are lucky to even be in the conversation right now.

That may have been true early on but the SEC and B1G have had private meetings since then. Of course Disney plays a big role here as well since they are footing the bill. They want to maximize ratings potential for the CFP.

Going to a 9 game conference schedule actually reduces the total game inventory while increasing the conference game inventory. The SEC is set to become a ratings power house, even more so than before. So I'm sure Disney had some say in that as well.

ND is going to get a home playoff game when it is over and they will have beaten NO-ONE.

This NFL Lite stuff sucks. If you are going to be an NFL lite then play a Regular Season like on.
A 9 Game SEC season should be weighted accordingly and combining the leagues with sprinkle here and there should help. The SEC weakest teams are much more physical than and catching them in a grind could change the entire complexion of a season for Ohio State Indiana and Notre Dame. Force Notre Dame to step up to the table and play some real games.
Sure they barely lost to Texas A&M and thrashed Arkansas but just once I would like to see them go through "A Grind". They coast to the Playoffs every year. They are afraid of "The Grind" and will coast every year into the playoffs. "The Grind" wears on teams good and bad.

I think ABC has won the weekend 7 out of 9 weeks this season, hopefully the SEC is being compensated for that w/ the 9 game schedule . I mentioned in an earlier post, I think there needs to be a SEC/B1G challenge or crossover event, especially if there’s going to be AQ’s involved, there’s not as much risk for losing if you travel to a Eugene or Ann Arbor, it would help give an advantage to one league over the other in the seeding process. One thing that has been thrown around is what to do w/ Championship weekend. Some of the ideas of getting seeds 3-8 to play on that Saturday are pretty intriguing. None of the teams playing in their conference title games actually want to play in that game .

And yet the SEC got shamed into adding a 9th conference game. What's next? No out of conference games at all and the SEC decides to eliminate open dates? Yeah, we definitely need to expand the playoffs.

That's why they should be forced to join a conference or given the toughest path possible to win the playoff. No one gives a shat about the mystique of Notre Dame except them and a bunch of biased Nothern media azzhats.
