Outgoing Transfer Portal...

Boo is gone. Saw it Saturday during warm ups. He has one foot out the door already. He had a bad fumble on a punt but recovered it. 🤦😑 💩

Edit- he didn’t play one snap on Defense. Poor attitude and again, one foot out the door. I didn’t see one player say a word to him during warmups.

I hope not. I think Brazzell leaves for NFL which puts Mike in driver's seat for WR1.
I am only basing this on fact that he has a lot of potential and is poised to have great season so he will likely ask for more than we can offer (he did similar restructuring last season) .. it is hard to keep multiple good WRs in the NIL era ...

He might. Our WR recruiting is on fire right now. so I'd hate to lose Mike but we have talent on roster and coming in.

Boo as was true for Nico but more so- may find his NIL value is considerably lower than he believes. There will always be players like this who through immaturity, toxic handlers or personal problems squander huge opportunities. Maybe Deion will float him a lifeline but that could be a dead end. Vols should easily replace Boo with a quality ballplayer with high motivation.

Right now it's too early make any observations, except for the obvious ones.

Boo is surely gone.
Merk is likely gone too.
Bennett Warren seems somewhat likely to move on.
People keep saying Peyton Lewis, but I am not so sure.

Beyond that it's mostly just guessing.

I’d be shocked if Merklinger is back next season.
Not sure which one is more liley to go, Merck or GMac, but I'm not expecting both to stay with the Freshman that is coming in. My gut says Merck might fit better in a more Bama style O, and there's a good many competitive schools running that to choose from and go do well.

I'm not so sure Deion is there to offer Boo a lifeline after this season anyway.

Prime will be allowed to say he is stepping down due to health concerns or whatever excuse he is comfortable with-but the gig is up.

I'm sure Mama Boo will be heartbroken

Who do we lose before next year?

Boo
CBs
OL (Sanders making playing time difficult for upperclassmen)

Who else y'all got?
We'll always have guys that are encouraged to look elsewhere. As for high profile/starting types, I'm gonna go with:

Boo
Gibson
Matthews
Merklinger

Kinda think Gilbert might consider a fresh start as well....if he can find a suitable landing spot.

That's concerning. Do we pursue an experienced QB from portal?
I would like to think so. But we probably don't want to run off GMac too. Hopefully GMac plays a lot in the bowl game against a good defensive teams (not Iowa, so sick of playing them). Ideally, both teams are 9-3 and we get to play Michigan. That would be a good test and a good game to watch, imo.

Why would GMac leave. He knew he was going to redshirt this year coming in. He can play the last 3 games and our bowl game and still keep his redshirt. The sky is the limit for him here

I've noticed all year that players don't speak to him during warmups. Not sure if we can read anything into it or not but I mention it to my husband every game.

One could say that about Merck too. Why would he leave ?? He's been #2 all season. Was gonna be #2 if Nico stayed anyways. Now he's set to be #1. It's his job to lose this spring.

Unless Merck declares his intentions prior to the bowl game, being #2 I'd expect to see a bit of him ???
