How do you know he’d kill it on the recruiting trail? How much experience does he have calling a defense? He wasn’t DC in NE before getting the HC job. If he didn’t play here he wouldn’t be mentioned.Heupel needs to make some changes and Mayo would kill it on the recruiting trail and he didnt get a fair shake with the Patriots.
If we are gonna start throwing out former Vols then may as well just recommend promoting Marlon Hobby who is on campus and has DC experience at the college level. Im not saying we should do that, but if we are just gonna throw out UT players then let’s go wild.Kind of a gamble to hire someone as DC who’s never called plays before.
I dont know about that. I know that he was picked by Kraft to be the head coach because of how respected he was. He inherited an awful roster and he had his growing pains. When he chose to not lose the last game of the year, he was fired and the Patriots hired one of the most sought after coaches in the sport. There were many reports of culture/locker room issues in NE last season.
The Defense hasn't played so well that they won the game this year. Last year the Defense carried a bad offense and people called for offensive staff changes. This year its the exact opposite. Not sure if we will see changes or just bring in more support role staff like we did with a Seth Littrell. The defense actually played well enough to win the game. The oline can’t run block, special teams has taken a step back, and it’s time for a new strength coach.
I don’t think Seth came here just to be an analyst. The Defense hasn't played so well that they won the game this year. It’s a fact that there were reports of a bad/apathetic culture last year in NE. I don’t know if it was true, but those reports were there.I dont know about that. Just to be clear, the goalpost we are discussing here is NFL headcoach. I think the nail in the coffin was when Mayo beat the Bills to miss out on the #1 overall pick. This is very similar to Brian Flores who was allegedly fired for not talking in Miami, who has continued being a great coach after. It was unfortunate for Mayo that Vrabel, a coach with connections to Kraft and a track record of making the playoffs in a not great organization was available. It’s a fact that there were reports of a bad/apathetic culture last year in NE. I don’t know if it was true, but those reports were there.
