Max Gilbert has issues

Joey was due for a bad game and he shoulders his blame but if Max could have hit the Georgia FG then we are still in playoff contention. We have a kicker problem.

Yeah but that was months ago… our fans gotta let that go and stop bad mouthing max after games that aren’t his fault…. He missed one field goal yesterday but hit 2 them including a 48 yarder. People can’t let the Georgia game go so they bring it up months later whenever he misses.

Only came down to a kick in Georgia game because our offense played conservative and defense couldn’t stop a 4th and 20 to end the game and even then it went to OT where our defense let Georgia run through them.

Sparks clarified that this was from kickers who have attempted at least 25 kicks. Gilbert is a SO. Unless there's a slam dunk in the portal who doesnt want a big paycheck, I say stay with him and see if he improves with 2 more years.

Come on now! The kid has been pretty good. Yes he missed a few big kicks, but he is talented. Yes he needs a little edge to him. Maybe if he had a coach instill that into him he might come out with a little swagger.

He didn’t cost us ANY games. Could he have one a couple? ABSOLUTELY! But so could have many other aspects of the games.

He absolutely cost us the Georgia game. Wasn’t just him but he had the chance to end it with a win in regulation.

This game completely changes as well if he makes the 37 yard field goal, not saying we win but it’s a tight game and you’re playing different instead of having to onside kick. I hope the kid gets it figured out but he has to do better in pressure situations. I would give him every chance to prove himself this year bc we’re playing for next year. If he can’t do better though we have to get a dependable kicker.

Maybe not as big but it lost one game. Again he didn’t lose himself but if you change that one kick it’s a win versus a loss. Last night it totally changed the complexion of the game.

The OC is at fault for not taking what they are defene is giving you. Our QB wants to throw long whenever he is given the opportunity to do so the O coordinator is at major fault for calling plays that the offense could not execute.

The above has nothing to do with the fumble. We had 1 v1 outside with cushion and no help inside or over the top, easy to beat the defender to the hash or fade it if he tries to jump it. It wasn’t a long pass, nor was it 2 deep.
We used the middle quite a bit. You have to be careful with Venables defenses as he will show a look baiting you where he wants you to throw then zone blitz dropping a defender where you thought would be open.
Fact is on the fumble, if the defender is blocked for 1 second, Joey has an easy td pass and it’s 14-0 and a crazy crowd forcing a team who doesn’t want to pass to start passing but it’s 7-7 instead, the crowd is in shock and the sidelines have flipped mentally.

The one at the end of the half was 3rd down and should’ve been like a punt. He did just throw it up but maybe we get it or get a PI but there’s less than 20 seconds left in the half so he chucked it. Davis is right there. If he just hugs the guy or puts a shoulder into him the int means nothing.
