Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

I've never heard a college player mention rankings when considering or choosing a school.
Have heard recruits mention game environment. I hope our urine soaked pants last night didn't deter them.

Then why do the same top schools recruit better and land the top players on a yearly basis? The top players want to play for the top programs, they want to win, play for championships and be on television to showcase their talent for the world and NFL scouts. Rankings don’t mean everything by any means, but if you’re a program trying to land a top 100 recruit your odds are much better if you’re a program consistently ranked in the top 25 instead of 50th.

you can usually tell how old one is by the amounts of meds they take. just a few years ago, I was on none, now on 2, or 3 with a daily Zyrtec, which is not a prescip. But going to the Dr and getting physicals I may be in for more..I basically treated my body as an Amusement Park..not pretty.
I look like in my 40s though..it is the insides..lol

If correlated, how does any team outside the top 25 or so move to top tier?

They invest heavily, either get it right or get lucky with a quality coach hire and quality staff that works tirelessly to excel. Or ... they cheat, or used to anyway, now it’s legal to do most things that you used to could not.

I agree with all that. Top tier coaches, Money, opportunity, NFL interest are the most important factors

We just flipped a promising TE with a GREAT name: Luca Wolf. No relation to Ethan Wolfe? our former TE as far as I know. The fact he was not only a take, but a flip this late in the 26 cycle tells me all I need to know. Coach Abelin is quietly one of the best recruiters on staff. I am a little unhappy with JVD for not getting his head around in time...but moreso to the coaches for not telling him 5 times to do so because Joey had very little time. Plus he is a true freshman. IF he just caught that ball, the coaches look like geniuses for lining 2 TEs up on that right side and having the obvious choice Kitselman drag 2 defenders out of the way so JVD would be open. Unfortunately the defender got just enough of a chip on JVD to slow him down and he wasnt ready when the ball got there. It was a beautiful play design, but definitely a risky move at our own 30. It was probably a play we practice for goal line or 2pt tries? Regardless, JVD and Brahme can both be big contributors in the passing game . JVD has played quite a bit this year and is a better blocker now than Brahme apparently. They were both very highly ranked and sought after TEs that Coach AA landed.

It looks like TE is a becoming a position of utmost importance. I like it. I think there is nothing better for a QB than a quality TE.

JVD is gonna be a good one. He gives maximum effort on all his reps and is great blocking TE already, he’s contributed a ton to a lot of our success in big plays as a true Freshman. Davis can be a big weapon if we use him more and he can stay healthy.

It was pretty obvious why Kistleman doesn’t play on the defensive side of the ball. One of the worst attempts at a tackle I’ve ever witnessed, he literally just ran with and hugged OU’s LB that scooped and scored, it was pretty embarrassing really. Hell, trip him, jump on his back, do anything besides just run with him holding hands.

Oh man. I know. That was a facepalm moment
